Without any inside info, I kind of expected this. He wasn’t getting any at bats late in the year when it really seemed like Morgan could use a rest.

Hey Adam, Project or anyone who may have a Twitter account (I do not) has anyone from the LSU staff been following Alex Williams P. Stanford??? I was interested in the degree of interest of either side going forward.
I watched some of his game footage and he looks IMO like a Friday/Saturday talent.

He went on a tear at the end of the regular season then fell off in the conference tournament/postseason, but it looked like he was way overworked.
He had two complete games and three other starts where he went at least 8 innings in the final two months. All last season, he also had nine starts of at least 100 pitches and two more where he was two off. No reason to put a college pitcher through that. That's just asking for TJ surgery

This is such a great point. Portal with Mainieri would have been a disaster. We’re very fortunate to have Jay at the helm in the current transfer portal atmosphere which I would describe as no milder than volcanic.
