Amazing. Need some arms now. I think Susac and his cousin are a pipe dream but you never know. Maybe JJ makes a pass at Kessler.

I know it's D2, but the Heid kid from Pitt-Johnstown would be a really good add. He struck out 105 in like 59 innings. He's striking out over 2 an inning in the Draft League right now.

Was listening to kiley McDaniel on moscona. He thinks LSU only losses 1-2 to the draft. Jensen & someone else, slips my mind

Do JUCO recruits care if it's division I or II or do they just attend the nearest junior college with a good baseball program? Said another way, can a LSUE compete yearly against powerhouses like Chipola or San Jacinto?

I read that Branden Boussiere entered the portal too.

Kudrna would prob be the Friday night guy if he were to somehow make it to campus.

12 Arizona players in the portal right now.
On the draft, I think we're going to see really high percentages of draft picks signed. Not necessarily 100% like last year, but still with only 20 picks, I don't see anyone being taken that doesn't intend to sign.

That would be huge if we get Selvidge and Lansville.

It would be even huger to get a great PC to develop them!!!

No question LSUE can. They were something like 30-3 vs. D1. I think it is budgets (it's not a talent issue) that keep JUCO's like them from playing more of the national powerhouses. LSUE is consistently ranked in the top 5-10 out of ALL JUCOS.

Correct on LSUE. 8 D1 guys off the current team. Should have that many or more next year. Talent wise, they can play with any JUCO in the country and coaching is also elite. We all know about Jeff Willis, but Roberto Vaz may be one of the better hitting coaches around regardless of level and Alan Orgain is a phenomenal pitching coach.

I wish there were a better way to follow prospects like 247 has for football and basketball.
I worked a Five Tool tourney a few weeks ago (had 11 games in 3 days, 6 of which were behind the dish between two Austin-area universities and was in recovery mode for 3 days after). Saw lots of good talent including this catcher whom was really good both offensively and defensively, large frame for his age, as well as being a great kid. That's me behind the dish and he said he was being looked at by TAMUCC, SHSU, Southeastern (I think) and several others. I'd imagine his interests will continue to grow this summer ball cycle.
Would be nice if baseball recruiting activities were easier to track to get a better idea of prospects in games that I work, whether HS or these college showcase tourneys. Appreciate the work Pat and others contribute here in the meantime.

with transfer portal now in play, look for all the early high school baseball commitments to slow dramatically as teams can now use the transfer portal to replace players as well
The days of getting commitments from high school fr and soph are gonna be over and that's a good thing because some of these players are being evaluated way too early

Notable from mlb.com regarding who boosted their stock at the combine:
quote:
Brock Selvidge, LHP, Hamilton HS, Chandler, Ariz. (No. 176)
Several scouts mentioned that no one boosted his stock more than Selvidge, who entered the year as a top-two-rounds candidate before his stuff and control dipped in the spring. He spun three shutout innings on Wednesday, delivering 28 of his 42 pitches for strikes and fanning five of the 10 batters he faced, four on 92-95 mph fastballs and one on an 81-mph slider.

Welp, I was hoping he would make it to campus, but that's looking less and less likely.
I really don't know what we're gonna do for pitching next year. At least we'll be able to rake.
