CWW was on 104.5 yesterday and said this about recruiting:
Sounds like he's still looking for Dante to reclassify, if not by August by December. That's the only one I can think of that we're working on for a reclassification.

Possibly looking to add somebody or somebodies to replace Bigby-Williams. They have four or five irons in the fire. They waiting to see how the academics play out. They can sign one now and another in December and bring someone in mid year to help in SEC play. Or sign two now. They looking to add height.

I wonder if we aren't going to end up in the Cameron Lard sweepstakes given that he's said he was interested in using a scholarship on a take-and-sit big man.
Lard plays a bit like Kavell, in that he sits one and plays one. And he has a ton of ability, though he's a bit of a character risk.
You'd still need a guy who can come in immediately, and there is NOBODY in the transfer portal right now who looks like a take as a grad transfer. The best post player in the portal is Shakur Juiston from UNLV, and he's only 6-7.

Didn’t Lard leave his name in the draft?

All the transfer portal lists have him in it. So I dunno.
He's from Natchitoches and he's 6-9 with talent and we seem desperate, so I wouldn't write him off if he hasn't committed to trying to turn pro.

Just having our coach be named with this group says it all. Dude means business.

Billy Embody retweeted a UK beat writer yesterday that sent this out:
quote:
2020 five-star center N’Faly Dante tells KSR that a reclassification to 2019 is still possible, focusing on Kentucky, Oregon, LSU, and Tennessee. Said he enjoyed visit to UK, they’re okay with him coming either year.
Not completely new information, but at least Dante is back to saying he is working towards reclassifying, which is in opposition to a couple weeks ago when he was saying he wasn’t.
Hopefully if it happens, Wade can get him in the boat and he can see that his best chance for a lot of minutes and to be a potential star on a good team is at LSU.

Wade being listed with those guys is not that big of a deal. I've been going to the eybl tourney in hampton, va for the last 8 years or so. You see coaches from virtually EVERY school, even the mom and pop ones. They have chairs lined around the courts, and you could very well see the kennesaw st. coach sitting in between coach k and bill self. That being said, I do like the fact Wade is not only going head to head with the big boys, buy he's actually beating them out for some top guys.

The difference is that the reporter singled him out. There may have been 50 coaches there, but the reporter chose about 10 to name.

Interesting note on the N’Faly front and singling out coaches.
Andrew Slater tweeted out a list of schools in attendance for Mokan Elite’s (N’Faly’s team) game earlier and guess who wasn’t noted? No UK mentioned as being in attendance. Did list the other 3 schools (LSU, Tenn. , and Oregon). From the pic, it appeared as though Armstrong was who was repping LSU.
I’m not an expert at college b-ball recruiting; but from what I’ve read, a lot of stock is put into teams/coaches being in attendance at AAU games for players they are recruiting hard. So UK not being there may or may not speak volumes.
Would love to hear others opinions on it.

Good point. And to be clear I am 1 billion % aboard the Wade train. If he stays long term, we are gonna have a top flight program for years!!

Another bit of good news coming out of the Peach Jam on Dante. Corey Evans on Rivals predicted Dante to LSU.

Love to hear that. Adding Dante makes this easily a top 10 team.

Yes, that is good news. Unlike Kentucky, there are really no big, tall players in front of him at LSU. That doesn't mean Coach Wade doesn't have a really good plan going forward if he doesn't get anyone else. But it sure would be nice to get Dante onboard for this, the 2019 season, which will probably be his only season of college ball regardless of where if winds up playing.
Come on over Dante. Make it happen. At LSU you will learn a lot about your craft, how to mesh with your team, and have lots of fun doing it.

Things have quieted a little in regard to 2020 big man N’Faly Dante and a potential reclassification to the 2019 class.
Expect that to change soon.
Dante participated in Peach Jam over the last few days, culminating with him leading his team to the tournament championship behind a powerful 22 points, 18 rebounds performance

But while rumors circulated that Dante wanted to reclassify into 2019, there were a lot of rumors also that he didn't want to announce his intention until after Peach Jam. Now that the tournament has finished, a lot of attention will be focused on Dante.
