Man, not even a poor man’s version; he’s all the way down to homeless. That’s good stuff there.

That's pretty funny.

Look at Duop's development in just one season under Wade. He was a completely different player his senior season. Give this staff an entire red shirt year with his younger brother and think he would be a solid contributor for two years.

Also looks like Kentucky is trying to change the narrative on Dante. Below is an article from the Kentucky Fansided website.

Basketball Recruiting: Kentucky Doesn't Need N'Faly Dante

Kentucky basketball is like Alabama football when they're losing ground on a recruit

Oh, they are definitely trying to do that by pointing out the same thing that everyone else has been for weeks, in that UK already has a loaded and deep front court, which wouldn’t make much sense for Dante to go to if he wants immediate development and playing time.

But I love the opening line of this article:
quote:

N’Faly Dante, a near-seven-foot behemoth center from Wichita, Kansas has long been considered a raw but tremendously gifted recruiting prize, even for Kentucky.

While I don’t pretend to think Dante has no room for development in his game (what high school player doesn’t), it is a bit absurd to call a 5 star, top 10, #1 center prospect in his class, raw. Also, love the “even for UK,” as if they are somehow even too good for some 5 star players. ??

But even beyond trying to downplay the possible recruiting loss; this article goes so far as to almost even persuade Dante that he is not ready for college and should wait to sign in his original recruiting class of 2020.

Well yeah, because the writer is now realizing that's the only way he goes to Kentucky now

I realize that. That was my point in making the statement.

Raw is laughable to describe Dante after what he just got done doing at the Peach Jam.

Agreed. But I’ll take it; b/c like was asserted earlier, hopefully it is a good sign meaning that UK is losing steam and their people know it. Hopefully someone will also show Dante this article and it will piss him off a little too.

I think you are right. They are realizing their best shot now is that he stays for his senior year.

Anyone have an idea about a deadline date for Dante? I know there is no date set by the NCAA, but I assume he had a date that he would have to enroll back into high school right? This would be awesome if we are able to land the big fella. Throw him that strong arse offer Will.

No real information here, just guessing and speculation on my part; but I would think/hope that we hear something in the next 2 weeks about if he is even able to reclassify. I know he just finished Peach Jam, and assuming he has to refocus on getting whatever work done, will probably take a bit.

I checked the school he attends and their classes begin 8/15. However, if he is coming to LSU, my hope would be that something is decided and he is able to go to Spain with them, which the team leaves 8/12. The only thing with that is I’m not sure of the rules there. I would think NCAA would require that the players allowed to attend probably would already have had to been enrolled in summer classes at the school to be able to go. So I doubt there would be an opportunity for him to do that; as you would be looking at him having to reclassify, pick/sign with LSU, enroll in an intercession class, all before 8/12. That’s probably a bit much. Ultimately, as long as he is enrolled for the start of fall semester, then he would be able to join the team and play this season.

Like I said, not really great info. Hopefully Bubba will pop in and maybe have a little more to add.

Yes. He must sign a letter of intent by August 1st in order to play this upcoming season. That's the deadline. I believe it's a two horse race between LSU and Oregon. The Ducks have been recruiting him for 2 years. They lost their starting center from last season Bol Bol to the NBA Draft and currently don't have a center on their roster.

Unless there has been a rule change this past year, this part is not accurate. Aundre Hyatt, who reclassified from 2019 to the 2018 class last year, didn’t sign his LOI until Aug. 6th. And of course going back a long time ago, Chris Jackson never even signed a LOI and simply enrolled at LSU and was eligible. I’m pretty sure as long as they sign and/or enroll by start of Fall semester, then they are eligible to play for the season.

Scotlandville has landed Class of 2021 G Emaryeon McDonald. Wonder if their program will get him some weight put on and have him LSU radar. He already has several offers.

Technically, it's too late to sign a LOI (NLI), but you don't have to sign one at all. So you are correct that you have up until the last day to add classes to be eligible.

Embody says Reath is a no-go and there are 2-3 other kids they're working in front of him.

That could maybe change if those guys fall through, though. We'll see.

It does sound good on Dante if his test score comes through. And if they get Dante the other big man they sign is a whole lot less important because he'll never play this year (you can take a complete project with that scholarship).
