New Orleans metro area perpetually has spoils of SEC-caliber players. Wilson and Hankton are going to clean up.

It's sad we got away from recruiting this city. The last 3 classes had little to no players from New Orleans area.

I feel like people say this about every region constantly. It’s always “LSU doesn’t recruit [insert SWLA, NLA, or New Orleans] anymore.”

I did some digging. There have been 12 top 300 players in the NOLA area who didn’t go to LSU since 2018. Of those 12 players, we took a higher rated player in the same class, at the same position for every single one of them except for the following:

Pooka Williams (RB, 2018) - Known to be a huge academic risk at the time. Also arrested for domestic battery in late 2018.

Corione Harris (CB, 2018) - Suspended following an arrest for unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a weapon and felony controlled substance in 2020. Transferred to McNeese in 2021.

Lance LeGendre (QB, 2019) - Signed with Maryland. Transferred to ULL in 2021.

Sedrick Van Pran (C, 2020) - Has obviously had a great career at UGA.

Aaron Anderson (WR, 2022) - Was actually committed to LSU but decommitted during our shite show of a season.

I would argue that Anderson and Van Pran are the only guys in this group that really hurt. Van Pran was reportedly always going to leave the state, and Anderson was a casualty of the Orgeron firing - which we knew would happen to some extent.

The cat from mizzou was a Fr all SEC. The big OT from FIU was a Fr all american.

2 leading indicators that your HC has checked out:

1. O-line pipeline starts to show serious signs of drying up (look at Saban’s 2004 pipeline relative to his first few years for example)

2. Eye is taken off Nola recruiting

It's your reality. Fine.

How is New Orleans looking like it's the hot bed of recruiting activity coming up?

I feel like Baton Rouge and Lafayette have become more of the hot bed than New Orleans recently.

Would be better off focusing on the northeast portion of the state. Saban came in and owned that portion in early 2000s and where did he go when he came to bama? Northeast LA. He knows where the talent and discipline is.

Who says we aren't
The staff can focus on more than one area at a time

NELA had one elite prospect this year and looks like only 1 next class

St. Aug has some athletes that look different. 6-7 tackle, 6-5 DE, 6-3 corner, and a 6-3 safety, that's probably why. And most of those prospects are 2024 guys.

And I bet they still don’t win state

The problem with NOLA is all the talent is sitting on Karr’s and Warren Easton’s bench. Landry has been down, 35 is down, Curtis isn’t who they used to be, Ehret is down

Recruiting zones go up and down. Long-term NOLA is one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country.

I bet JT will try to make another run before he hangs it up. The Catholic league goes in cycles with Jesuit, Curtis, Rummel, and BM primarily taking turns at the top. St Aug is due to be a power again. Easton on the east bank and Karr on the West Bank seem to be getting plenty of players as well. I’m curious to see if Noel Ellis Sr. can bring walker back. Anthony Johnson is back as his assistant.

If I recall, Van Pran was never staying in state and made that very clear early on in his recruiting process. He actually went about it the right way

TIFWIW, but Jaquelin Roy when he was on Jordy's NC game watch party said Van Pran wanted to come here, but he wouldn't elaborate when Jordy pressed him on what happened. So I'm sure Clegg, O and Ponamsky screwed it up.

New Orleans does have the talent. That is ridiculous.

Carver and Chalmette High had good teams last year.

Definitely can’t hate on Van Pran. I thought he was and stayed classy throughout. Wish he was a Tiger, but not everyone wants to stay in state.

Us and Carver did but we’re quite clearly below the elite teams
