re: Looking at how the class has formed, would you want Slade Bolden?

Slade wouldn’t see the field at LSU and he definitely won’t at Alabama. I don’t get the hype behind this kid. I really don’t. Not a troll. Not bitter. I just don’t see it

Yes you are. Just because you're not trolling in this particular post doesn't mean you're not a troll.

Not directing this question to anyone in particular, but if anyone knows please advise. I seem to recall that both Provens and Bolden attended the same LSU summer camp that included a lot of the better prospects this past summer. It was during or right after that camp when LSU offered Provens and cooled on their interest of Bolden. I would assume that if the coaching staff had the chance to see these two compete at the same camp, then Provens must have clearly demonstrated better skill, speed, agility, etc for this to happen. Bolden is a good young athlete, and likely a fine young man. But he must not have stacked up in direct competition with Provens at that camp. That would be the only logical answer to me.
I wish the young man well, but this is an LSU board and he went elsewhere, so I would hope we could quit discussing at some point soon.

The key is QUALITY deprh. We need to start keeping the best interior linemen in our area. I think we did that this year for the most part.

I think what the OP is getting at is in terms of talent and stars would we replace someone already signed as Tigers with Bolden. The most likely comparison would be Proven. I'm guessing they are probably comparable.
But in principle, I never replace those who want to be Tigers with someone who flat out rejected us. IOW, you never replace Tigers with tiger bait.

Buncha racists in here.
Bolden's MEASURABLEs are elite. He will be a good WR in college. Wish he was a Tiger.
Get over it folks. Bama stole one from us. One that CEO wanted due to his TALENT and the pipeline to WM. Saban plucked him after one visit.

Bolden said LSU wasn't showing him enough love when he dropped us from his top three. It might turn out to be the wrong decision, but I think he wasn't as much of a priority to LSU as other guys.

What pipeline is that? I posted the stats earlier in this thread, but that pipeline has been dried up for a while. Are there big time guys from WM in the next few classes? Because looking back to 2012, there has only been one guy ranked in the top 10 in the state from there.
Edit: I don't see anyone in next year's class from West Monroe either.

I’ve long thought Slade should have been a priority in this class. Going to be a good player for Bama.

yes, I would like to know about Bolden's elite measurable, as well.
Please tell us more...

Personally I think we should look more into Slade Wilson. He can really slice through the competition.

Well his sparq measurables say 5'11 195, 4.69 40... that don't scream elite to me.
I think he's a good player but he's like a tweener in basketball, not quite a RB, not quite a WR.
I've said on here before he reminds me of a less athletic Kirk Merritt. Merritt was clearly the best athlete at Destrehan while he was there, but he wasn't the best RB on his own team, and he wasn't the best WR either.

Not since Barkevious Mingo have they had an elite prospect that was from West Monroe initially. Cameron Robinson came from Ouachita and was in their feeder system both years...
Hutchinson next season will be a SEC caliber player but not top 20 at the DT position. Good nose guard.
Oh, and he isn't from West Monroe either. May have lived there but never attended feeder system or high school until last season.
Best prospects are in their 2020 class with the quarterback and defensive back Max Hunter. Hunter should be a top ranked corner his senior year and will be shocked if he isn't with his speed and quickness to go along with his size.
The QB has the chance to be truly special if he continues to get better.

quote:2015 you are right, but in 2014 we had 5 guys on the line including three 4 stars. In 2013 we picked up 7 with 5 being four stars. I think they thought 12 guys in 2 years was good enough to hold them for at least one year (we all realize that wasn't the best call).
2015 when we didn't recruit a single true defensive lineman. 2014 was a pretty weak class as well.
quote:Several left and a couple others have been in trouble, but we're talking recruiting here, so how they did is irrelevant.
For offensive line recruiting was pretty good for the most part, but several guys from the 2015-2016 class just never panned out.
quote:Yep on both
I'm really not down with the ridiculous notion that Miles was a poor recruiter, but he did have a propensity to leave holes in his classes that left us really thin at certain positions (most recently linebacker and defensive line)
quote:Wrong on this one
I seem to remember running back also being dangerously thin prior to the LF/DW & DG/NB classes.
2011 RSSO Ford, SO Ware, SO Blue, FR Hilliard, FR Magee (FR Hill)
2012 RSJR Ford, JR Ware, Jr Blue, SO Hilliard, SO Magee RSFR Hill,
2013 SR Blue, RSSO Hill, JR Hilliard, JR Magee
Even when Fournette and Williams got here, we had two seniors with at least 100 career carries and 10+ TDs each.

I agree that Bolden will eventually play baseball.
I have thought all along that is his best sport.

I would trade all of our skill players for Bolden and Quinn.

I agree. And Orgeron is doing it this year at defensive back IF he doesn't close with at least three.
