I will say good for this young man. I never thought he would get an offer from LSU but now that he does he needs to jump on it because its his best option for sure. What he should do is just prove that he can do it to himself, screw everyone else saying he couldn't.

I'm actually with you on this. I, too, see this as a fundamental shift in approach. Sure, it did come about post-Haskins but there has been more planning involved despite just a knee-jerk reaction to Haskins.

I am very excited about giving him a shot. The biggest asset is his mind and reflexes.

is a huge step for LSU, to offer a QB under 6'. And a step in the right direction. If you're good enough, you're good enough. Next step will be giving him a legit chance to compete for the job and not just taking him, expecting him to be "organizational depth".. That is going to be the tough mountain to climb.

bullshite, LSU doesn't need a 1st round talent at QB...competent QB play will make all the difference and this kid can give that tonyou

That's exactly what the hell im saying. If Scott can play, he can play. An offer shouldn't come this late because of his height. I realize it is kind of a last resort to our coaches, but im excited he got an offer.

Hopefully Scott commits and comes to LSU. Shitty players don't put up the kind of numbers he did in 5A. His late offer is 100% because of his height.

I don't know why he'd want to come here. He's clearly 5th option for us. I'd go to Maryland and try to start with Haskins now gone.

Could be like Foster Moreau. He was an afterthought. Yet he came to his home state school and earned significant playing time as a freshman.

Damn, turning down Harvard would be hard to do...

not that hard if you plan on living in Louisiana, apparently.

Have any of you that think my statement is hilarious ever actually met an Ivy League grad or been involved with a hiring decision?
Graduate degrees are different - an Ivy JD or MBA does provide access to a different tier of jobs - but an Ivy undergrad degree for most jobs in most southern cities, including every city in Louisiana, might be marginally better than having the same Alma mater as the person making the hiring decision and is certainly not better than having played football at that Alma mater.

It shouldn't be controversial to say that the difference in NFL chances by playing football for LSU instead of Harvard is more significant than any potential increase in employment options within the state of Louisiana by attending Harvard instead of LSU. If the kid wants to work in finance on the east coast or is all-in on attending graduate school at an Ivy (or Oxford or the like) and views football as a means to those ends, then by all means go to Harvard. But for someone who (1) intends to pursue a professional football career and (2) intends to spend their post-football life within the state of Louisiana, yes, I think LSU is a better choice than Harvard.

I don't know about Harvard football specifically, but a friend of mine who was a DB at Yale said they didn't even have any sort of indoor facility. In New Haven. In the winter. Harvard may not be as bad as that, but an NFL prospect is definitely at a disadvantage if they're dealing with facilities that are worse than some large Louisiana and Texas high schools.

Reminds me of Kyler Murray formerly of Tam, little thicker more of a down hill runner from what I can tell but same skill set, both are winners at the high school level.

Hope he signs on.

I agree. In Louisiana, having played for LSU and earned a degree is better than the same degree from Harvard. An ivy league undergraduate degree is not especially valuable, except in getting into graduate programs.

In fact, many ivy league graduates without post graduate degrees are almost unemployable.
