re: Kubena reports “Mainieri is doling out a summer of rest to most of LSU’s pitchers”

Stortz and Labas didn't pitch this year, so no reason to order rest!
Preseason Prediction 9-3
Posted by POBIII on 10/31/10 at 1:39 pm
If you predicted 9-3, like I did, who will the Tigers losses be the rest of the season?
Although, I like our chances against Sabalama, I recognize our limited offense will again bite us in the rear. ArKansas will then be the difference between 10-2 or 9-3..
I hope I am wrong. What do you think?

As long as we didn't give his family free rent valued at $800,000+/- and we didn't have Glenn Dorsey on a telephone conference call assuring him that we would not be on NCAA for providing extra benefits to players family, we should be okay with the NCAA. With regards to LSU's internal investigation and subsequent punishment, we can always take away on scholarship for this year and we only sign 27 instead of 28.
I thought it was Lafell, but stand corrected as I was so pissed. However, you are wrong about when the clock is supposed to stop. From a practical standpoint, the clock operator is usually late, but technically it is supposed to stop when the runner, in this case receiver, is down. In college, he cannot get up and run once he is down. Even it was 2 seconds, we would have had time to spike the ball leaving enough time with the clock stopped for the FG unit to do their job.
What everyone is missing is that despite the fact that timout should have been called after the horrific call to Ridley on the swing pass in the flat for a 7 yard loss, Lafell caught the hail mary and hit the ground with 3 seconds left. First down stops the clock so we would have had time to spike the ball and have two maybe 1 second left with the clock stopped. Plenty of time for FG team to run on, get set snap and kick the winning FG, assuming a good snap, hold and kick. Mississippi has had to set their watches back one second when entering Louisiana. Now they no longer have to do that because we are even.

I agree that our OT was holding #25 on the spearing of our QB. Should have been offsetting penalties. Another expample of poor officiating in this game. Once they would have called our guy for holding, then they should have been more likely to call the rest of the holding on Alabama.
AKaKa, I only mentioned UF LT to remind everyone how blind you are and why you give officals a bad name.
On the downed punt, I did not notice anyone touching the ball on the 4 yd line. If that happened then we need to acknowledge it. However, a sack in the endzone, intentional grounding from the endzone or the obvious flagrant holding in the endzone (not called, of course) all result in a safety. Thanks for your candedness on PP's interception.

Akaka, you have once again proven yourself to be incapable of officiating a game. Your lack of ability to see something with your eyes and correlate it with your rule book. We recently argued about UF left tackle lining up in the backfield. I have noticed in UF subsequent games that he is no longer lining up as far back as he did against LSU. By your inability to acknowledge Peterson having control of he ball with his left foot already clearly in bounds, which is all that is required, confirms your blindness. Most on this board acknowledge how difficult it was to make the call on the field as it happened so fast and the officials looking down the sideline may have had their vision obstructed by other players in their line of sight. However the replay clearly shows both feet touched in bounds with possession.
I saw this when it happened and then again in all of the replays since. However, is it considered an illegal block in the back since the pass was completed at or behind the line of scrimmage. Being outside of the tackle box, I would think it is a penalty, but I would like to see this clarified. The lack of holding calls on Alabama is getting rediculous. LSU may not have won the game regardless, but it sure lacks fairness, which is what neutral referees are supposed to be on the field for. In the final analysis, we lost the fourth quarter and we lost the battle at the line of scrimmage, but if one side is allowed to commit holding without penalty, it certainly affects the outcome.
Hope we can get well and win out the rest of the way.

None of this matters. JUST WIN BABY!!!! The rankings will take care of themselves and it only matters how you finish.
What was Bama ranked in 2007?
Was this the game that LSU came up with 2 fumbles on the Nebraska last drive, but refs claimed they were down. Maybe that was another matchup with Nebraska in the 70's. Oh well, old age is catching up with me.
Just to clarify my vantage point of the OT lining up in the backfield. I noticed it when UF was right in front of me and then after watching the replay, it became obvious that it was not a one time event. You can have your opinion and I can have mine. If I had been the line judge on that side of the field, I would have called it until UF OT made an adjustment, just like Alem was forced to make an adjustment to his lining up offside, which I agree with you guys that was and does it often. Finally, I agree with many on this thread that UF was a better team than LSU and I am ready to move on to the next game.
re: No apology from SEC about hawkin's jersey being pulled on?

In reviewing the replay not only did the linesman miss the jersey grab, but Alem was flagrantly mugged on the play as well, which was worse. I find it strange how little holding is being called against LSU opponents this season. Am I the only person suspicious of the lack of holding calls?
You two refs have proved to me that most referees are blind, intentionally cheating or incompetent. I sit in Sec 304 on East Side, 30 yd line toward the South endzone about 2/3 up (great seats). I saw the UF receiver pull our CB's jersey on their TD. I could see UF LT lining up in the backfield most of the game. I observed the UF center lift the ball and move it six inches forward prior to the snap on several plays. I have officiated sporting events before, not including football, and realize how one's judgement and discretion makes a diffence in the outcome of a game or race, etc. The officials whom you are defending for their performance in this game are either blind or were purposely favoring UF in this game, or incompetent. Could it be that they laid the points on this game?
I noticed the UF center moving the ball as well, but our two refs on this thread will no doubt be able to discern that it was legal for the Gators to pick up the ball and move it forward before the snap. BTW, just watching Michigan and Iowa replay on ESPNU and Michigan OT was flagged for not being on the LOS and he was nowhere close to being as far back as the UF LT was for most of our game. I found that very interesting. Since 62zip is so adamant that his supervisor won't be very happy about his L making that judgement call.

Don't forget Alem's kicks when the ball rolls in front of him after the play is over. ala Arkansas game last year.
