Got the commit from Will Riechard.... #1 Kicker Class of 2019. Guy is the real deal. Ended up with 5 offers.
LSU was on him as a sophomore and we were first to offer him. Damn.

You really don't need the #1 kicker to be effective. 85% or better from 30-39 yds, 75-80% between 40-49 yds. And an ability to leg the kickoff to the end zone. Any FG longer than that and we should be punting and letting our defense handle it's job. There are many kickers who can knock in 3 out of 4 from 40-49.

Also, you don't have to worry about reinstating your kicker from an assault charge.

He is from Alabama. In the end, home won.
He had offers from us, Oklahoma, Oregon and I think Georgia.... as well as Bama. If Bama hadn’t offered I think we would’ve got him. Family didn’t want him going too far away.

The thing you are not thinking about/ saban never uses his scolly on kickers. He always has walk on kickers. He preferred to use scolly on DL/OL. So he now using one for kicker. That’s one less big man he can’t have.

I doubt we sign one in this class. We may take a walk on, but there are too many good players in this class to pass on for a kicker. Next year, we'll sign one.
