That was my point dipstain ! You aren't here to give out your trade for free lol. Point was no one can discuss unrelated recruiting topics with you without inevitably bringing up questions about LSU targets.

With the qb haul.. Safety haul and dline haul.. No one should tell too bad. Especially with CEH and TE likely landing. Those rb's are studs.. Look at their measurables and offer list and watch some film and u should get over the hype train that is Akers. I get why ppl worry about him he's the hot catch right now but Lsu will be fine at rb. The only cloud right now looking over Lsu is LBer needs. Otherwise O is doing one heck of a job. My god it would be ugly if Herman would have come. See Texas..

I get it, I really do...........CEH and Ettiene are great backs, but the Fornettes, Akers, and Guises of the world do not grow on trees around here(contrary to popular opinion). Maybe there will be a few terrific backs of their stature will come with the 2018 class. Maybe a hammer type ILB like Beckwith will fall into our lap next year. Maybe my Aunt will grow nuts and become my uncle. There are no guarantees.

Do you remember where Guice was rated?
Posted on 12/22/16 at 10:49 am to MSG
I'm not a star watcher. I do know that Guice practically took over the national allstar game that he played in as a WR.
I could care less if we win in February, but after next season, our RB situation will be in flux. As it stands right now, It will be the first time in close to 8 seasons that we don't know if there will be a game changer in the backfield

Who's to say CHE and Etienne won't be as good as Guice? I thought he (Guice) would be good.. but I never thought he'd be this good. If you're not a star gazer, what are you basing your opinion on?

the film I've seen and their measurables. They are both small scatback types. It was my understanding that the reason Etienne wasn't initially offered was because he fill a very similar role as CEH. So getting them both still doesn't give us a future downhill running game, but more a lateral skill set.
Maybe I'm wrong, hell, I'm wrong all the time. Ask my wife! She'll tell you!
Just my opinion

that's what I used to think also, but they are not. Etienne is about 5'11" 210 lbs right now and someone posted a picture of Etienne, Akers, Helair, and Toneil Carter at the finish line of a 40 yard race, and Helair looks pretty stout.
Would you classify Dalton Hillard as a small scatback type? That's kind of how Helaire appears to be built but maybe even thicker.

quote:Brossette will be a Jr this year and will likely stay as a Sr. He was a 4 star and the 16th ranked RB in the nation (identical rank as Etienne). He's a really good back stuck in a crowded field, but I think he'll get a chance to shine this next season. We also have CEH as a hard commit and will likely add another RB if Akers goes elsewhere. I bet Etienne will be a Tiger.

As for game changer, our game changer will be Matt Canada.

Up until about 3 games ago, Guice had always been referred to as our scat back/change of pace back. Now he's a downhill runner. These types of labels are just silly.

I think the saying goes "It ain't about the x's and the o's, it's about the Jimmies and the Joes"
I hope you guys optimism pays off. I watched Brossette (and Dylan Moses for that matter) play for my Alma Mater(Go Cubs!), and frankly, I wasn't all that impressed with either one. Maybe with another couple of years in the weight room, Brossette will have the strength to withstand a season as a primary back in the SECw, but as of now I'm just not seeing it.

I bumped into Darrius Guice at the Mall of La, I swore standing next to him that the dude was practically square. Meaning that he extremely thick with wide broad shoulders and huge thighs (like Dalton Hilliard) and that's kind of how he runs - Like a lopsided bowling ball!
I never really considered Guice a change of pace back even though he is quite different from LF

Guice is a man. His combination of power, speed and shiftiness make him an extremely sought after commodity at the next level. LF7 is a monster once he starts going downhill, but in a crowd, I've seen few RBs pin ball off of tacklers like Guice.

I'm not so sure that Akers should be in the same conversation as #7 and #5. Akers is good in the open field and he has some moves but he doesn't maul people while running the ball like those two.

Maybe not but you're comparing a high school senior to 2 first round draft picks. I'd say that speaks for itself.

Etienne not a downhill runner??? He amassed over 7500 yards running the veer. Over 6000 after contact. Aginst 7,8,9 sometimes 10 man boxes. Not 3 & 4 man fronts like CHS and Akers. He averaged almost 11 yards a carry. How much more downhill and between the tackles do you want? CHS yes, I can see him as more of an outside in space type of runner. He has good hands and could easily be a slot in Canada's system. Akers has all the stars and accolades and deservedly so. But there is one thing that everyone seems to be forgetting. This guy has never taken a hand off. He is a high school QB that everyone believes can become a good RB. No doubt he can run and he looks great on film when he lowers his shoulder on high school DB's. But going from 4 & 5 wide with 4 & 5 man boxes, to 7, 8, 9 man boxes geared to stop the run is a totally different animal. By no means am I saying that Etienne is better than Akers. However, I am saying that there is a lot of questions and unknowns about Akers that Etienne has already answered. I.e. Etienne has proven that he can run downhill and between the tackles.

I will agree with you on this East...
Akers is a very good running back.. he would be much of a drop off after guice and LF
