re: Clyde E-H vs. Travis Etienne

The only reason that CEH got an offer from LSU is because he lived at Les's house.
How exactly to you speed up a film on Hudl.
Guys Etienne is elite. If you haven't seen him play then you don't need to talk. When I say that he will come in and fight for snaps believe it. He will run circles around everyone but Guice and fight with Williams for the number 2 spot. But if we don't get him we will never find out.
If we lose Etienne Juluke better polish up his resume. The reality is that Etienne is the most important recruit on the board right now. If Guice goes down Williams and Brousette want cut it. We would have to hold our breath all year hoping Guice doesn't get injured.
Well that's LSU and Julukes job to make Etienne and his family understand that LSU is his best option. Just from things I have heard and things I have read they played this one wrong... he's gone. Damn shame too because he would have been a good one.
Juluke better get Etienne if he wants to have any chance of keeping his job. Coach O and Canada need to go full court press on Etienne and get him to BR before he visits College station.
Agreed.
The tigers might want to work hard at moving his visit up.
This article just came out about Etienne on SEC country.

Thoughts?
Not anywhere close? How can you make that statement? Have you seen Akers or Etienne play in person? I however, was fortunate enough to see both of them play. I watch Akers play aginst Warren Central. Not bad but not impressive either. I'm not sure he had much more than 100 yards rushing. He did complete a lot of passes and extend the play with his legs. But like I said nothing impressive. Nothing that made you say yeah this kid is the best player on the field and one of the top players in the nation. A few weeks later I watched Etienne play aginst Brusly. First half of the game he looked like Akers not bad but no wow factor. The second half was a different story. He was by far the best player on the field. He had 250+ on no more than a dozen carries. Plus a 70+ kickoff return for a TD. Now I know that this is not an entire body of work but of the times that I saw Akers and Etienne play. Etienne looked better by far.

There are other running backs that they are interested in before Ettienne.

Who?

Since you posted this a 2:27am I will assume that your were drunk. CHS is no Berry Sanders and he was not running circles around Harris, Akers or even Etienne. A picture is worth a thousand words. This is the finish of the fastest man race at the opening in New Orleans. Etienne beat Akers by 2+ yards and CHS aka "Barry Sanders" by 4. Etienne is in the middle with the olive green shorts with white tights. Akers is on the right in the black and neon shorts and CHS aka "BS" is getting dusted off and struggling to keep up. He has an offer and Etienne doesn't? Maybe LSU should rethink their position on CHS. He is injury prone smaller and slower than Akers and Etienne. Yet we want Akers and CHS with Etienne as the backup plan? Baffling??

So getting them both still doesn't give us a future downhill running game,

Etienne not a downhill runner??? He amassed over 7500 yards running the veer. Over 6000 after contact. Aginst 7,8,9 sometimes 10 man boxes. Not 3 & 4 man fronts like CHS and Akers. He averaged almost 11 yards a carry. How much more downhill and between the tackles do you want? CHS yes, I can see him as more of an outside in space type of runner. He has good hands and could easily be a slot in Canada's system. Akers has all the stars and accolades and deservedly so. But there is one thing that everyone seems to be forgetting. This guy has never taken a hand off. He is a high school QB that everyone believes can become a good RB. No doubt he can run and he looks great on film when he lowers his shoulder on high school DB's. But going from 4 & 5 wide with 4 & 5 man boxes, to 7, 8, 9 man boxes geared to stop the run is a totally different animal. By no means am I saying that Etienne is better than Akers. However, I am saying that there is a lot of questions and unknowns about Akers that Etienne has already answered. I.e. Etienne has proven that he can run downhill and between the tackles.
Yes. Etienne in the middle with the olive shorts and white tights, Helaire in the back with the white shorts and Akers on the right in the black and neon shorts. Guy on the far left in the white tights is Toniel Carter. There is video somewhere I'll see if I can find it.
If Helaire runs a "4.37" then Etienne must run a 4.00 because in this photo he handled Helaire by 4 yards and by Akers 2+. In a 40 that's an eternity.

[quote]Etienne should be viewed as a big time back in his own right.
Don't know why the recruiting services don't exactly see it that way. At 5'10" 210 lbs, he is not a small scat back but is a full size every down type RB.

Agreed. An old friend of mine lives in Jennings and he told me about this kid. He said that Etienne had 7500+ yards on less than 700 carries for his career. Not to mention 100+ rushing TD's. This was all done out of the Veer offense. The same offense we ran in high school back in the 70's. That is basically 3 yards in a cloud of dust. They don't block the end man on the line of scrimmage. I remember our coach telling us run past him or run him over. So how he is classified as a scat back I don't know. Because you can't have that many yards running the veer as a scat back.
Devin is a LB. I know he was a good high school RB but man he is going to be an All-SEC LB. Defense wins championships. If we can hold people to 14 or less and Canada can continue to average 28 a game then we will have a shot. But moving Devon from LB to RB would hurt more than help.
