Number two recruit out of Texas but have not heard much noise about him before signing day.

He's a top 50 prospect with offers from schools like Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Houston. There's no way to fully know if a prospect will be a big impact player. But he was in high demand nationally

He seems to be doing a good job of working his recruiting angles to get guys to come to. let's face it, a program that isn't really selling itself right now.

Miller is from Texas...but his dad played football at LSU in the 90's. There's the connection.

Givens is a guard from Memphis. What's McMahon strongest recruiting pitch? He took Ja Morant out of obscurity and helped turn him into one of the best, most exciting players in the NBA (when he's not suspended). Who does Morant play for? The Memphis Grizzlies.

LSU is also recruiting Vyctorius Miller out of Los Angeles. But when you dig deeper you find he's the son/nephew of two of New Orleans' most famous rappers. He may live in L.A. But his roots are here in LA.

If V. Miller signs, LSU may likely move into the top 15 in terms of class ranking

Yea I saw that it was looking good for Vyctorius Miller...the #47 overall player. LINK

That would be about as good a start as possible. What's more impressive is that he's having to go OOS.

This isn't football. If anyone wants to recruit well they have to go OOS. You look at the top classes and the majority of players are from outside the state where the school is located.

Top 50 recruit, so I would say that is a pretty big get.

So if McMahon did that for Ja, why haven't he made another Ja? Cmon man. We gotta stop it with this McMahon turned Ja into a superstar stuff. Ja was just a gem who flew under the radar and ended up playing for McMahon.

I'm not saying McMahon is going to make him the next Morant or that he will ever be able to make another player into that. I'm just telling you that is a pitch that carries some degree of weight with recruits. Particularly with a guy who happens to be from the same city (Memphis) where Morant plays.

Morant is McMahon's single best example of player development. Why would he NOT use that to try to sell other players on coming play for him?

Alt, a lot of posters here are out of touch with how young black males (our main recruiting demographic in both major sports) view the world, and if you aren't around them or keep up with their culture, it's not their fault for that ignorance.

Ja Morant is a GOD to these young black kids. Now I'm not saying that's necessarily a good thing, but it's still true. And the gun videos he's been featured in have only added more fuel to the fire and makes them respek him that much more.

Mcmahon would be a fool not to drop his name and even find other ways for Ja to help him out in recruiting. Everything I've seen says Ja LOVES coach McMahon, because he was one of the few coaches that even offered him a scholarship. It's just common sense to exploit that as much as possible.

I think he's a solid player, with a ton of versatility and potential, but we already have a decent amount of depth at forward.

We're going to have Reed, Chest, and Collins next year. Unless he is going to be playing C (which is a possibility) or he's an outstanding player, I don't think he will get much PT. Still think he's a great grab and will be excellent for us at LSU.

He doesn’t play like a center. He plays more like a SF or PF. I think Collins will be our center. Miller will split time with Reed and Chest. Miller’s game resembles Reeds’ the most. Both Miller and Reed handle the ball well, so they may be able to stay on the court together.
