Far more than a 2-word vocabulary, in fact I posed a pertinent question directly to you which you ignored:

What the hell do these recruits owe anonymous strangers on the Internet when they make the most monumental decisions of their lives?

I don't live there now but most of my family does. I visit often and it's all purple and gold as far as I can tell. My family and friends are huge LSU fans. How do these kids feel good about leaving their home state to play for our (to me anyway) arch nemesis? Do they not realize the pain they inflict on the pride of the fans of their home state? It would hurt a lot less if it weren't Bama who obviously is our number #1 obstacle to a championship. But they don't seem to care about the folks at home. Why?
You feel the same way when LSU gets kids from Alabama?

We're not talking apples and oranges here. It's definitely different if your a 5 star who can make a difference for a state's pride in their team. By your analogy if Drew Brees left it would have as much effect as let's say, John Brown, leaving the state.
I think you grossly overestimate the amount of football players that care about state pride. Where were those elite athletes that cared about state pride in the 90s? It's the winning that's most important.
And still, the point needs to be reiterated, some athletes just don't give a damn about LSU.

Drew isn't from here....and it's no different if a person graduates
tops in his class in medicine or and moves out of state taking his talents with him

I'm sure all the business majors will be greatly missed.

this is true you can't criticize your team's coaching staff and then beg recruits to come there sucessfully!

Because they'd rather ride on the coattails of someone else's legacy than contribute to building their own.

the bottom line is money talks. These kids have parents and/or "advisors" who all about the bottom line. LSU is going to have to develop the kind of "grass roots" supporters that are willing to do what Bama backers in the area have done.
Now that is the cold truth. Personally I would rather
LSU not get to Bama's level in this area.

They probably didn't hate LSU. They were probably like MOST teenagers these days who think it makes them look better or more cool to date people from a rival school. The psychological quandary that is today's youth is quite mind boggling.

they care about themselves more, as they should.
This.
These kids don't give a shite about any of us, as they shouldn't. We care about them because we care about ourselves and how it effects our teams future.
It really blows to keep getting let down, but we have a few high profile players still to announce. And those days will be glorious

When/if Jamal Adams comes to play here, will you think he'll be effing over Texas, or A&M? No, you'll be happy we got a recruit. Same goes for all of the Texas boys we take EVERY SIGLE FREAKING YEAR. Yes, Texas is different story because it has multiple big programs and a heck of a lot more kids, but it's still the same idea. There a reasons those kids come to LSU and there are reasons that kids, yes even kids from Louisiana every now and the, go to Bama. In every situation are they good reasons? No, but I'm willing to bet most of the time it's for good reasons (pay for play is a thing everywhere, not just when things look suspicious). Am I sad to see Hootie go? Of course, it breaks my heart when people born and raised here don't bleed purple and gold, but this is more than about just being your home state hero. Granted that should be a factor but it's not the only one. So I say "Roll Hootie Roll" whenever he isn't playing us, and when he does, lets show him we're still alright without him. Geaux Tigers. Same for CRob. We didn't even offer Simms a scholarship, I don't believe, but either way, it doesn't matter.

I was thinking bout this all morning yes it's alot alot of tiger fans in Northeast Louisiana and I'm afraid that they will only come back to West Monroe and OCS cause nobody else puts talent in a position to get to LSU. Name yhe last kid to make a impact for LSU other than Mingo........ yeah not many. There is talent up here but we don't see it at LSU I might be wrong but the kids should understand the pride alot of people have for the tigers and think about state pride and not going to Bama, Florida, Texas. Cause they see it as their state is better than our and that is why the kids come. It is Jimmy and the Joes and not the X's and the O's most of the time.

I can understand wanting to leave northern Louisiana... but for the state of ALABAMA?

They know more about ESPN and college recruiters than the folks at home.

It would help you to understand the cultural divide if you were young black male. Obviously we have many a YBM come to LSU so I don't think race had anything to do with it but understanding the the young culture period will tell you that they do not value what you do. Then stick a 50 ish tubby old white man up there recruiting and I would say there is a cultural gap to be bridged...
Notice too that we are only having this issue in the NELA and NOLA areas which are boundary type issues. We don't have these issues in NWLA or SWLA. LSU is putting up some nice seasons but Bama has been a little better over the last 3-4 yrs. It will help us a lot if they quit winning crystal balls which I do not see happening for 2-3 more yrs out
