I don't live there now but most of my family does. I visit often and it's all purple and gold as far as I can tell. My family and friends are huge LSU fans. How do these kids feel good about leaving their home state to play for our (to me anyway) arch nemesis? Do they not realize the pain they inflict on the pride of the fans of their home state?

It would hurt a lot less if it weren't Bama who obviously is our number #1 obstacle to a championship. But they don't seem to care about the folks at home. Why?

Bandwagon. Media attention. ESPN made a goddamn Roll Tide commercial.

It's hard to instill loyalty in kids who care more about swag than the State of Louisiana.

our staff aint putting in the work, simple as that.

like hootie said, bama showed him they wanted him more.

Of course he says that about the school he chose. It probably has ZERO bearing on the reality of the situation. These kids have grown up with Alabama on SportsCenter's lips every day since they were 7th graders. It isn't a fricking mystery.

It's interesting that a DB would skip on his homestate DBU, but some kids just want to leave and some kids just love the bandwagon.

Move on. Lot of great recruits still on the board.

Not everyone takes pride in LSU like fans do. I was at Redemptorist in the 90s and that's an extremely pro-LSU school. But like anywhere, there were a segment of students that hated LSU with a passion. I imagine it's like that at most high schools throughout the state.

Some people just have to go against the grain. The stronger LSU is the smaller that minority gets, but it's still there. It's not one big happy family throughout the state.

Why does this only apply to Louisiana recruits and no other state in some people's mind?

I'm from the area too and the bottom line is money talks. These kids have parents and/or "advisors" who all about the bottom line. LSU is going to have to develop the kind of "grass roots" supporters that are willing to do what Bama backers in the area have done.

I dont think its a entire North Louisiana thing. Does'nt Ruston(when they have the talent, which has been thin lately) get their guys to LSU frequently?

And don't forget they've also grown up with the loudest of Tiger fans questioning and bashing the coaching staff at every opportunity while generally venerating Saban at the same time. Of course they prefer Saban, most vocal LSU fans do too.

I went to school in Baton Rouge growing up in the 90's. You'd be surprised to see how many yearbook pictures of kids wearing Notre Dame, Miami and Florida State gear.

Well, I don't believe any of Hootie's explanation. It is also very reasonable for people to get at least a little ticked off by recruits who play the speculation game, call press conferences and then select our biggest rival. The fact that he didn't pull a Toshiro Davis is good but that's a pretty low bar.

Hell, I was told to suck a dick and die on here by other LSU fans earlier for simply asking a question. So if we don't like each other and we are going for the same team. Doesn't make it a tough task for Saban and his cult to do it as well.

This is it. Don't try to understand.

Some people like to vote for the front runner just to say they voted for the winner. Don't try to understand.

Maybe they want to go out of state. Do you not understand when a non athlete goes to another school to get away or be on their own for once in their life? I hate that we are losing these athlete's to out of state schools, but, it happens. Unfortunately it is to our biggest current rival who is 2 time defending football champs.

Seems like it's hating on the state to me. Though our state may not be LSU thru and thru it's the only team with a chance to bring Louisiana a national championship. That would give their family, friends and fans a lot to be happy about. That should count for something.

Tuscaloosa isn't far and saban is a great coach. You really can't go wrong playing at LSU or Bama. Plus you guys act like we don't have players from north la on the team starting. Or the fact we have Harris. The most important recruit from north la. Good qbs don't grace LA high schools that often.
