If there is mutual interest then you can be aggressive in the recruitment. Just because they are in the portal doesn’t mean they want to play for LSU.
This is apparently a difficult concept for some to grasp.
We have the dumbest fanbase in all of college sports. I'm not sure it's even close. This is another example of that.

I'm not saying this is the kid to do it on....but eventually BK and co. are going to have to overpay based on whatever their criteria is to get some of these guys from the Oregons, OSU's and texas schools. That is who you're competing with for playoff spots, so that's the market rate.
He's already having to pivot from organic growth because clearly that strategy won't work in this environment, so if we're going to be aggressive in the portal, then be aggressive in the portal.
I watched 0 Purdue football so I'm not melting about this kid, I'm just speaking generally and I get why many are frustrated.

WTF do you want BK to do? They've been in contact with him or his agents just like everyone else who saw this kid and thinks he is a really good safety. It's not like LSU hasn't and isn't still trying to get solid talent at positions of need. You really think we were the only school that wants this kid? It's an uphill battle for him and we don't have the war chest that Oregon or Ohio State do. That's just a fact.
We have TEs, CBs, and Ss all set for visits this week, which is what every other college is doing. Step off the damn ledge and chill. Damn, some of you ranters are Charmin soft.

He is a good player, but he is a safety. There are lots of good safeties out there. He was the #74 safety out of HS.
