Someone refresh my memory
Wasn't this kid's dad a MSU grad and involved in some booster program? What happened? He would almost certainly have started earlier at MSU
Glad he is a Tiger, just curious.
Please let him redshirt

He didn't want to live in that armpit of the universe known as Starkville and he wanted to play for championships during college.

watched this kid in a HS all star game in myrtle beach, SC. They had more highly regarded qb's in that game, like one whose name escapes me but signed w/ GA and had a long name, but he may have been the best qb to play in that game

I remember at the time he committed, there was talk of him feeling a little torn: on the one hand, he was an MSU fan and his dad an alum, etc; on the other, he felt like he had a better chance of developing as a QB at LSU and having a better chance of going pro. With the goal of going pro down the road, LSU won the battle for his services. It was something like that.

He was probably talking about Mettenberger.
Murray was in the Army game.

Sometimes you can chalk this up to being 18/19 yrs old. CG had a college physique in the spring game. He just looked different than 8 months earlier when he was in HS.
The most overlooked part of recruiting is visualizing how good a will a player more than how good a player is right now (senior yr of HS). Its a skill trying to figure out who has peaked physically and who still has room to grow...

CG is going to be a hell of a player.
I will hold off on saying he is the steal of the 2009 class until I get to see guys like Claiborne play, but so far he has a huge lead for sleeper of the class.
I still think it will be difficult for him to play until later in his career due to Jordan Jefferson being the starter, but he could move up to 2nd string by the start of his RS FR year.
I see him passing JL on the depth chart in 2010 because he looks to have his head screwed on straight. Doesn't have as big of an arm as JL, but he looks similar to Flynn with maybe a little better touch on his throws.
Zach Lee looks to be in a very similar mold as CG as well. Solid players, no doubt.

as a 3 star, no matter what I don't think there is any question he was vastly underrated.

He was a 5.7 3 star that barely missed his 4th star, so it is not like he was a low 5.5 3 star (pretty big difference).
I do completely agree that he should have been a 4 star. Personally I would have had him at a 5.8 4 star, but after seeing him in the spring game I am sure some would argue a 5.9 or 6.0.
If you look at how players are evaluated, it is hard to measure "whats upstairs." CG didn't have the biggest arm, has great touch on the ball, fairly mobile, but overall doesn't "wow" an evaluator. Hence, why he was only a 5.7 3 star IMO.
Adding in the "he understands the game" part would push him up to a 4 star without a doubt. Probably as high a 5.9.
Did that make any sense?

jeff has 3 more years
that leaves 2 starting for CG. you can't ask for more on a top team
shep is the one who gets screwed, imho

Yeah thats what I expected to get from CG. He will get backup duty as well so he will get a little PT earlier in his career off and on.
Shep won't be screwed...he'll find his place on the team. I am not going to worry about him a bit.

+1
And, unlike Lee, his feet looked like they could actually move (a little).

i'm hoping the florida arse raping last year has taught les something about what is needed in today's CFB
however, the fact that late in the year we packed in our offense (and got 5 times shittier in the process) makes me think he didn't get the memo
Biggest pussy on the rant thinks he knows more football than Miles. If you can't run up the gut,you can't win.

almost exclusively short yardage situation
i'd hardly call tebow's sneak a part of the normal offense
