How many scholarships for incoming freshman do we have this year?

I see we already have 23 commits. Just curious if anybody knows how many scholarships we have this year? I know normally it starts at 25 but that a few different things can impact that number.
I know some of the more knowledgeable recruiting experts here know this so figured I’d ask.

I thought there was no limit as long as we stayed under 85 for the next two years due to covid. I may be wrong

There is no 25 player limit. Just the 85.
We have 69 scholarship players if I'm not mistaken. That leaves 16 openings. We will likely have at least that many more leave the team. So, I'm guessing we could take somewhere in the 30 to 35 range, but we will likely save some spots to get some players from the transfer portal.

As the posts above indicate, nobody really knows, including, probably, the coaches. It depends on how many are currently on scholarship, use up eligibility, leave for the draft and transfer. The total can't exceed 85 but no limit for the year.

And I believe you don’t have to be at the 85 until the season starts in the fall.

Unlimited now. No class limit but team has to be under 85 cap limit by certain dates.
NCAA was forced to do something to balance the Transfer Out portal otherwise teams would never be able to restock a depleted roster... i.e. LSU - 2022
The number of open spots for incoming HS depends on what LSU wants from the portal

Infinite
LSU has benefited from a rule change like possibly no team ever has before (unless you want to talk grad transfer rule, of which LSU may have benefited more than any team ever there, too).

I say 37 and we take 30 high school guys and 7 portal vets
