Dj pickett is the highest rated cb we’ve seen since Derek Stingley. We all know how elite at least as a true freshmen Stingley went on to be . Purely as high school prospects how does dj Pickett compare to Derek Stingley?

Man, Pickett is very much where Stingley was coming in his freshman year. Due to injuries and team culture it was his most dominant year. Hopefully for us Pickett's career is more like PP7.

Pickett is basically Deion Sanders & Ed Reed. That’s all you need to know.

Agreed it’s a shame Ed orgeron’s tenure crashed and burned during Stingley’s last two years combined with injuries. Picket physically looks like an absolute freak a 6’3- 6’4 corner should not be transitioning as effortlessly as he does combined with elite long speed and crazy length. He’s built very similarly to sauce Gardner with prob even more long speed. He’s a lock start day 1 I wonder if that means stamps or woodland move to the nickel cause those 3 on the field together would give us a talented cover group .

Sheesh. It’s crazy to think with all the talented corners this program has had Pickett may be the most physicality gifted from a size, length and athleticism perspective. With how elite Ryan Williams looks it’s nice to have a Pickett type talent to counter him

Pickett is so good that his NIL prohibits him from playing for LSU on Thursdays and Sundays so he can play in the NFL those days.

Better than Stingley because of his size. He grades out similar to Patrick Surtain. Surtain is the comp.

I’m still bitter surtain spurned us. A Stingley, surtain backfield would’ve been insane

Haven't seen Pickett's highlights. Sounds like he is elite physically, but would be curious to hear about his ball skills / instincts.

As I remember it (and from my novice perspective), Stingley played the ball in the air really well. Some of his best highlights were from his ability to sense the receiver tracking the ball, then turning at the last second to intercept it, all while maintaining good body control. He was smooth, quick, and instinctive.

This is all the more apparent now while watching some of the current DBs struggling to play the ball or even turn their head at all.

They're similarly elite coming out of HS in terms of evaluations and upside.

Pickett has freakish body! He will be remembered as one of the best to come through.
Phillips is going to be right up there with him. He's size and length and skills are 1st round talent.

Hold on there fella. LOL on Deion & Reed.

However, if DJ is 70% of what Stingley was, we have a good one. Every hater that knocks Stingley is FOS.... He played CB like he was running the route and never had to scream at him to turn around and look for the ball.

DJ isn’t quite on Stings level technique wise

He might get there one day but Stingley was heads above any other freshman DB that ever stepped on LSU’s campus when I came to technique

Pickett is the prototype for CR. Lanky with long alligator arms to clamp down INT's.
Usually, people think about alligators clamping down with their mouth, not their arms. I don't think people typically worry about breaking free from an alligator's arms.

But I am awestruck by the three word combination in your post: "long alligator arms."

Those are three words I have never seen together.

Alligators don't have arms; they have legs.

When someone refers to "alligator arms," they mean that the person pulled his hands back to have short arms, i.e. the person got scared and retracted their arms to protect their body.

There is nothing "long" about alligator legs or "alligator arms." The whole point of "alligator arms" is that they are short.

I think you have officially coined this term and should seek help in obtaining trademark protection for it.

You might consider seeking other help as well.

I’m genuinely curious, but why would this be the case? Stingley looks like what you would build in a lab to play CB. Height, at some point, just becomes a disadvantage. It’s why there are very few people who can play certain positions once they get a certain height.

Stingley was as close to a perfect prospect as you can get. To say any prospect is clearly better than him is unrealistic.

I agree… Stingley’s technique from his senior yr in high school was better than any of the DBs we had on campus at that time.
