but would rather grey shirt just to go to bama

Quick perpetuating this dumb arse lie. Grey shirts count against the following years 25. If they sign 25 and get 3 to grey shirt, they can only sing 22 the following year. They have signed 27 or more 3 years in a row. Did they convince 8 kids to grey shirt this year? Go somewhere else with that bullshite.

It’s not just about signing guys to LOIs though. It’s about them being recruited athletes vs walk ons. You can’t do the whole recruiting song and dance and then they walk on without counting.

Processing has nothing to do with only signing 25. It has to do with the 85.

Hes found a way to sign more than anypne else each yr.

Who are you people? Do you even pay attention to recruiting?

Walk ons can’t take officials. You can’t “process” people without counting toward the initial 25 counter. Grey shirts count against next year’s 25, so you can’t take 25+ year-after-year by taking grey shirts. They count.

Stop perpetuating the lies.

Seriously, can someone explain how they are able to do things that no other school can year after year?

I am looking for a real answer, not "They are Bama".
part of it, and it seems the bulk of the numbers they are managing, centered around (has several names I gather) "medical scholarship remediation". This is not medical redshirts I'm referring to; however that may be part of it.

Basically they are getting spots back (exactly how? NCAA waivers?) if a scholarship is taken off the books due to medical reasons. So if a player "retires" due to medical reasons they are applying to receive that spot, in the following recruiting year, back on the 25 limit.

It ranges from true medical issues where they are never able to play football again to, as has been "lightly" reported, relatively minor injuries where a player is "encouraged" to leave the team and then transfer. By leaving the team first, for medical reasons, they can then apply to get that spot back.

It's another form of "processing" when it is done for minor injuries. Note that it has to be voluntary; the player has to a) retire for b) medical reasons. Then and only then can this be done.

There are some reports, in print, of players complaining about being "forced" to do this for insignificant injuries. Not just message board fluff.

This is true. Grey Shirts are not the explanation to how year over year they exceed the 25. Grey shirts, as stated above, have a future cost. It is part of their overall "numbers management" routine. But is a minor part. Grey shirts are really a way to manage the 85 man limit and academic eligibility, not the 25 man limit.

Alabama last 3 classes

2019: 27 signed 2 transfers
2020: 25 signed 2 transfers
2021: 27 signed 2 transfers

2018 was 22... so at least 3 of those count against your 27 plus 2 transfers in 2019...

ETA: after reading a little more on the Two 2020 transfers... Logan Burnett was a walk on tight end, & Carl Tucker was hurt and never caught a pass at Alabama, so I'm sure he got the medical deal or whatever legitimate means to have his scholarship redacted by the rules also... so you can take those 2 off...

Yes but the more stringent roster guidelines were implemented in 2018, so 2017 was easier to manipulate the rules... so 2017 doesn't count...
