Yeah the first offer he received was the only one he wanted. I’m excited to see what he can do at the next level. I’ve watched him live in opponent’s backfield for 3 years while taking on double teams. He has very very little fat on his 300lb frame and can absolutely move for a man his size. Has big tree trunk thighs. Congrats Joseph!

Chad Lavalais was a three star in his first recruiting year. I can’t remember what he was ranked in his other two recruiting years. He had trouble making it grade-wise.

It’s be nice to see him take the same trajectory as chad. He cracked skulls early on at LSU.

Also, chad lavalais worked at a fricking prison before coming to LSU. That’s awesome.

It's hard evaluating prospects from small schools because they are so dominant against generally weak competition. I saw Lavalais play in HS and he outweighed everybody by 50-75 lbs while also being the fastest player on the field. In a situation like that it's hard to know just how good a kid is.

Rivals and Scout were around then.

Oh boy was that better than Forrest Davis’ book and max emfingers melee of a ratings system. It was new and soooo much better.

Kind of like in the late 80s or early 90/s when Gillette sensor came out wjth TWO razors on a suspension system; I mean, that was so nice. Came out of nowhere too. Shocks? On a razor? Please.

I remember the day LSU signed Bennie Logan from Red River High. Red River was a small Class AA school, and everyone on Scout couldn't believe we were wasting a scholarship on an unknown DE from a very poor high school program. Being from Coushatta I told them that I had heard some good things about Bennie, and given a year to acclimate to LSU he just might surprise! Don't sleep on these kids from small schools, especially a program like Haynesville where he has gotten some pretty good coaching. I have high expectations!

I was one of those people. I said it on this board back in 2008.

I had him third on the depth chart and didn’t think he could surpass Josh Downs.

Well...not a lot of kids come out of 1A in general. How many kids come out of 5A and don't do really well?

But, off the top of my head, Ronald Martin out of White Castle turned into a solid starter for the Tigers by his senior year. Started most of his junior year as well before getting injured.
