Haynesville's Joseph Evans - LSU signing to mark history on journey from tragedy

Sounds like a great kid. I'm pulling for him at LSU and beyond.
Wednesday’s signing will mark #Haynesville history on Joseph “JoJo” Evans’ trail from tragedy to elite status.
quote:
“I always just think about where he started from, you know — premature, three pounds as a baby, and his mother died giving birth to him. And when people talk about him or he does stuff, I have to hide my face from him because I don’t want him to see me cry. It’s a real emotional thing. I just get overjoyed.”
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Joseph Evans has come a long way since then, as a young man and as an athlete.
And Wednesday’s milestone will etch the defensive tackle's name firmly among the elite of one of Louisiana’s most storied football communities.

Some people in this thread who have seen him play think he's underrated. LINK

He committed in October of 2017 during his visit and never wavered. Unfortunately recruits get less attention and tend to gain very little if that's the case. I don't think he took any other visits and likely camped very little. Haynesville is a small school too, but a powerhouse.

How many kids come out of 1A and do really well?

No idea. LSU has a 4* and a 5* coming from a single 1A school next year.

Great coaching as well!
Two NFL family members. Google Haynesville all state footbal! Players and look at the Evans family members that made all state. Bloodline is there along with a supposedly great work ethic.
I am pulling for Joseph.

Hopefully he can keep up the Haynesville tradition of producing NFL players.

I’ve seen some private video of him...my buddy is head coach in haynesville. Dude is a monster.
He said he is the most coachable kid he has coached. Haynesville got screwed this year in semis on a beautiful Int while defending Trey Palmer that was called off for PI.

What a great story. Absolutely love this kid. Type of individual that can only help your program.

It is great that Evans will be a Tiger.
It is a very good story and I hope Evans contributes a lot. He should do well.

He is over 100x bigger than he was when he was born.
That is insane.

This^^. Two cousins had long NFL careers (Doug Evans and Demetric Evans). Good kid who's grounded and comes from a solid family. I know a family member of his from work. He'll be a hard working guy who'll be a solid teammate and a positive influence in the locker room. I know Haynesville is only 1A, but at a critical time at the end of the season opening game between H'ville and North Webster he took over our the NW OL, securing the win for H'ville. I hope we end up talking about him some day like we do Jacob Hester...."Remember that Evans kid was only a 3*, just like Hester."

I am shocked that some smartass from South Louisiana hasn't pulled the "Arkansas" card.
