To be fair, in a normal recruiting environment before NIL he signs the number one receiver in the country DK Moore.

Again when will this stupid dumbass talk end? The man has coached up more elite WRs in the past 5-6 years than anybody else in the fricking country.

Yep. The trolls are trying so hard to find something to melt about. Hankton coached up Lacy and Anderson this year, and both had their best production.

LSU got to top two WR in LA. Meadows was just not worth getting into a bidding war because we have Pimpton and Green.

Also damning that no young guy stepped up this year

Where is a young guy going to play behind Lacy, Anderson, Daniel and Thomas? Oh and we also had a TE catching 55 passes this year. And that doesn't include Hilton who they tried to work in at the end of the year.

Bigger concern is he didn't coach anybody up besides Anderson who is a slot WR. Sampson, Daniels, Watkins etc didn't grow/excel.
His Wrs couldn't create early separation, only had one speed guy Hilton who made 2 catches all year in the last game. Very underwhelming on field and no big recruits.
BK will have mininum 2 or 3 new coaches...TE, OC and possible WR?
---------

Daniel's isn't getting enough credit. Solid receiver that was hurt for a few games. I hate he went into the portal.

Hilton had a strange year.No way anyone outside the locker room can speak to the details to assess.

You fans are not smart, it's not about relationships, it's about "how much money I can get" BK told ya'll that yesterday. Sheesh!

Agree that he Hankton seems to be a really good coach. I just said he got owned in recruiting. CBK wouldn't have promoted him to co-off coordinator if he couldn't coach. And yes, got to give him some credit for Nabers, BTJ.

So true, can you imagine the class LSU signs with NO NIL - BU, Simmons lyr, French, Harper, Wesco, Lockett, Moore, and that’s just a few for sure.

We aren’t top 5 - I said the top teams. I ain’t worried about top 10 or 15. We ain’t in the top 5. That’s the point.

That's silly. It happens almost yearly.
Several players/coaches have gone to other schools where most wished they had stayed at LSU.

In these days of NIL, you don’t want to get into bidding wars on WR’s when you have great WR’s right in your backyard flying under the radar.
Need a coach who can evaluate properly and coach them up. Need a good strength program to put weight on some of them. Need to make them strong to get off the defenders.
BK may be a good coach, but in this day and age, if he doesn’t have a staff from top to bottom that can evaluate and develop a high level, then he can never be successful here.

Under recruiting at the WR position massively hindered our offense this year. If Hankton can’t get his head in the recruiting game then he needs to be shown the door.

And what, in your learned opinion is the difference in the 5 and 6 class?

You believe the recruiting sites have their analysis calibrated for that level of accuracy?

They don’t. Not even close.

I see us 7,8,9 - I don’t see 6th. Looks like same teams in top 5 for 3/4 years - all in college football playoffs probably. I guess it doesn’t matter. LOL

I thought we were talking about 5* WRs specifically, the ones you had listed. I'm not going to pretend being a 5* don't mean something when in reality, it really doesn't.

All of these clowns getting butthurt bc there were some last minute flips and other highly-touted WRs that wouldn't commit to LSU this cycle and now they want to run Hank out the bldg. And to my point, 5* WRs don't often come here so it doesn't matter. We still put the best WRs in the league.

Folks need to stop being so delusional and overreacting when shite gets weird and predictable.

quote:

the 2024 NFL draft had 9 first round picks that were five stars

quote:

but the data shows that if you're a five star, you are more likely to be a first round pick

9 out 32 1st round picks last year? 28% huh?

I'm not sticking my nose up on rankings or 5* guys. I just don't get worked up over it especially bc I know it's created by some fking hacks that created a system and website to make some fkn money off guys that care way too much about it and then overreact based on their imperfect system that doesn't fkn matter anyway..

The point is that if you think the top 5 is important, then you think there is a difference in 5 and 6; or 5 and 7; or 5 and 8.

If you think there is a difference, then you trust a 3rd party to justify that difference.

I don't believe the recruiting services have that level of expertise, especially in the current era. There isn't much difference in the top 10 classes.

Maybe I should have said posters on tRant seem to act like losing a coach player is always a good thing when they know it isn’t.
