No. NIL is headed for reform. We are playing the game as it currently exists.

No one has been more vocal about needing the rules changed then Brian Kelly. No one has been more vocal about needing the rules changed then Brian Kelly.

Every chance he gets, he says we need either the conferences or the Congress to make rules that apply equally across the board.

I wish you were headed for the death penalty. Trolling on the recruiting board should result in an immediate ban.

Should Gordon really be saying this stuff on radio?

I have some sad news for you. Players have been getting paid for a generation. It’s just a little more out in the open now. Anyone thinking that NIL stopped cash under the table is a fool as well.

No shite. I just rather not have to hear a scummy personal injury attorney gloat about lsu football and how much he’s paying them. Never did I say this never happened before

Say what you want about Gordon, but a big hat tip to that guy. First time I really paid attention to him in an interview and he’s far more humble and relatable than your average attorney. Likable dude, regardless of how much he spends in NIL

Texas is breaking no laws, therefore no rules since state law supercedes ncaa rules(thanks Tennessee). Texas state law allows university sponsored NIL collectives. They not only have more money but more freedom to collect and spend it. Argument #1 for NIL reform is the unfair advantage some states have given their programs. Tennessee outright put nuts on tables to the ncaa. Leaving LSUs current status left up to state politicians. Good luck.

All the NCAA has to do is say "Texas, it's fine if you pay players directly, but they are ineligible for any NCAA activities".

Yep. It is very clear that it is not supposed to be pay for play but that is obviously what’s going on.

When will the ncaa do anything about it though? Probably never

Love that Gordon is willing to spend his money on the good guys! I think of Better Call Saul every time I see him on tv.

Sucks

College football has been like this for a long, long time. Obviously the money is astronomical but at least they can be openly greasy now instead of all the cloak and dagger shadiness.

Poor old Southwest Conference. They were just ahead of their time. They were a semipro league way before it became cool.

He's really not. A buddy of mine went to his Daughter's wedding in Aspen and he got on the mic multiple times to tell everyone how much everything cost and that he was covering it.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE what he is doing for LSU but he is exactly what you picture an ambulance chaser to be.

That sounds like the most second-hand bullshite I’ve ever heard.

Nobody just jumps on the mic to literally call out how much things cost, even ego maniacs.

Hand to god, multiple people confirmed. He got on the mic and started talking about how glad he was that everyone came to the wedding (normal) that set him back "X multiple thousand dollars" (not normal). And then later he got back on the mic to say that an extra hour at the reception hall cost "X thousand dollars" and he's covering it to keep the party going (also not normal).

Don't think for a minute that Gordan would ever consider bank rolling the LSU football team if he couldn't publicly take the credit. I am not mad at him at all, if I was spending the type of money he is on players and recruits, I would make sure people knew about it too.
