And the lineup next year looks solid.

Jake Brown could use a good backup when he inevitably comes back

You're saying that currently the line up doesn't look solid and that if we got one of the two remaining top tier corner OFs in the portal, the line up would only look solid?

This is as dumb as when you said we should bring in lefty Trey Hawsey to play third base.

I'm just not holding out much hope for that. His draft position is way different from Milam's.

You need another capable bat in the OF. I'm not convinced about Patrick at the plate yet. He could be another Paxton Kling.

If we're going for the stars, go for Hotchkiss.

I never said third base. You said that. I said Hawsey as a role player, possibly allowing Braun to play some outfield.

I would not be opposed to Jake coming back to start in CF. I would allow that.

If that dude does something crazy like post a Wolf of Wallstreet "I'm not f***ing leaving" gif, I'd have to call for medical attention for the length of time I'd have that hard on

Not defensively, but Kling couldn't hit SEC pitching consistently.

I just have flashbacks of Kling. He was an awesome defender and a terror on the basepaths, but he couldn't hit SEC pitching consistently.

His stats seem pretty meh for Kent State. I don't get the hype.

He's a guy with a pretty high ceiling IMO. He's basically a Yamin but with lesser stats. I'd be all for him coming in to compete for a spot but probably not good enough to be promised a starting job.

I disagree on both counts. (1) I don't think his ceiling is high relative to the incoming freshman that he would be competing for playing time. (2) I don't think we should recruit transfer portal players who are not good enough to be promised a starting job. Eddie Yamin hit .161 in conference play with a 55% strikeout rate; we really don't need another version of him on the roster.

You don’t consider a sophomore that just hit .294 with 16 hr, 47 rbi, 68 hits, that had a sluging% .558 with a ops of .966 an elite player with a high ceiling?
