Well, this is interesting now. I know we have some highly regarded high schoolers on the roster, with little experience, plus a highly penalized center who gets blown up a lot. We will have to grab at least experienced 2 starters in portal. Probably a guard and tackle. I can't see us rolling into 25 with 4 players new to starting and a center who is sus. Thoughts?

I would vote to get a definite starter at LT and C. Then I would vote to bring in a versatile guy that could start at either RT or a G position depending on where needed most.

Trust in Brian Kelly. He's aggressive.

I wonder if Chester is a better guard?

To me not a huge loss. The line couldn’t run block at all! Dead last in SEC.

It had to have been scheme. We’ve seen these players be competent run blockers in the past

That Shanahan kid from Texas 8&4 is out there. He started a couple games, will need to work on pass blocking, but he was the main lineman bulldozing our players to allow that QB to run all over us.

Can’t stand that BK has a vocabulary above a 2nd grade level and can color inside the lines can you?

Nuss coming back is huge, he can make their calls so it lessens the blow. These guys are very highly recruited so if the staff decides to go with them I'll trust them.

Are people really surprised by this? This was a 100% no-doubt-about-it lock all year. He won't make it past day 2 of the draft at the latest

Actually no we haven’t. Jayden Daniels’ runs had nothing to do with their run blocking. When they actually had to run with a running back, rarely did they block well even in Jayden’s 2 years here.

False. Diggs and Williams both averaged over 5 ypc in 23 and Diggs had over 700 yards even missing multiple games due to injury. The OL underperformed this season.

Perhaps the new guys are better than their predecessors; I hope that Curne and Thomas are December entrants.

Your first part is correct, your second part isn't. The rushing attack in 2022 and 2023 was largely--maybe even exclusively--predicated on the numbers advantage you create when you have a running QB. Very very rarely did we ever see our RBs dominate consistently over an extended stretch of play while just lining up and going right at them. Given the major advantage of having daniels at QB, the OL was able to open *enough* holes for the RBs, but we've never seen this OL run block for shite without a QB who totally changes the math for the defense.

Just for comparison: In 2023, our non-QBs ran for a total of 1455yds on 5.1yds per carry (in 13g). In 2024, our non-QBs have run for 1426yds on 4.7yds per carry (in 12g).

He'll be off the board on day 2. I agree he should've stayed though.
