Don't let anyone tell you that 5* recruits don't matter.

Sure, every now and then you have 5* that ends up as a complete bust. But more often than not, the reason these guys are ranked so high is because of their freak athletic ability and speed.

Case in point:

5* on 247. 5* on the Composite rankings. Top 10 player by every service.

This guy just single-handedly wont the game today when the entire rest of the team was completely sleepwalking. His speed and natural talent were on full display today, and Arkansas had no answer for him.

I'm really hoping we can close with Ricks, Toviano, Harbor, and some of these other freaks ranked in the top 50. One of these guys can make all the difference in the game - so when you have multiple guys like this scattered all over the field, it's the difference between a 9-3 season and championships.

Most 5*'s aren't doing what this one does. Most play some, but they don't affect the game the way Perkins does every play.

Stars don’t matter.

For every one of these there are a dozen 3 stars and 4 stars that are heisman winners or finalists every year.

To be fair, he's not a 5 star. He's a 10 and he’s ours.

100% wrong.

The percentage of 5 stars that go on to good careers and the pros is higher than the percentage of 4 stars and the 4 stars do well at a higher percentage than 3 stars and so on.

The difference is there's only around 35 five star players every year while there are a few hundred 4 stars and a few hundred more 3 stars.

5 star players that have won the Heisman since recruiting rankings have existed:

Reggie Bush
Bryce Young
Tim Tebow
Cam Newton
Jameis Winston
Kyler Murray
Derrick Henry

I’m not sure if this is a troll. Stars 100% absolutely matter.

They only matter if you know what to do with them when you get them. Just ask 8&4 fans.

Wonder what CJ Hicks is doing for the Buckeyes? Genuinely curious as he was almost a consensus as 1 to Perkins 2, though they were CLOSE.

For every Harold Perkins, there are 10 Sage Ryan's. Most potential takes time to show.

To think: the services rated him that high and still underrated him.

Ok smartypants.

Every year there are more players 4 stars and under than there are 5 stars going to new york for the heisman announcement.
