To put this into context for everyone, this is like getting one of those big Georgia smashing type player that they are known for. Going to create a no fly zone at the Box.

There are some impossible expectations being placed on this kid because of a batting practice video

Safe to assume MLB's scouts have seen more than one video, to rate him as high as he's been rated.

Scouts don’t do ratings. 3rd party sites do though.

He has one very loud, elite tool. There is a lot to like but there will be a drastic uptick in competition coming from Wisconsin. There are swing & miss concerns present already. He will do more watching than playing in Y1

Since when have they been known for this besides this year with their transfers?

UGA has been in the Top 3 in the country in HR per game the last 3 seasons under Wes. #1 the last 2 seasons

He just brings in a ton of guys who can mash because it plays to the park really well

Very short RF dimensions and overall good weather/some altitude that promotes the ball flying pretty well all over the field

Excuse my ignorance I didn’t realize it’s been three years of that. Still doesn’t change my opinion of them being “known for that.”

Being known for it would mean it’s been a consistent quality for a much longer time.
As you obviously know more than myself, how much do you think it’s the park vs these guys really being mashers like a Jared jones for instance?

It's both. Yes these guys would hit less home runs in more normal park conditions/dimensions, but a lot of these transfers especially hit double digit home runs from their previous stops too. It's a calculated thing Wes is doing knowing what park he plays in. They averaged almost 3 home runs per game in their park this season which is honestly crazy, you dont get there without getting certain players though. No they dont only have Jared Jones' in their lineup, but a lot of their guys have notable power and thats what they tend to recruit/go after in the portal since Wes got there 3+ years ago.

They do have guys come out of seemingly nowhere though to hit a crazy amount of home runs. Daniel Jackson and Charlie Condon just absolutely had insane final seasons compared to previously

Jackson hit 12 home runs his freshman year at Wofford, he hit 14 his sophomore year at UGA (did miss a number of games/AB, was on pace for closer to 20-ish I'd say is playing a full season of AB)...then mashes 32 this year.

Charlie Condon was REDSHIRTED his first year at UGA - not due to any injury thing or whatever, just redshirted like he wasnt ready to play. then he mashes 25 home runs his 2nd year at UGA and 37 his last year. They only got 2 seasons out of him when they could have gotten 3. Condon is a little less surprising because be broke the GA state home run career record while in high school...but for whatever reason previous UGA coach to Wes though nah this guy isn't ready to play yet, so he didnt play and redshirted his freshman year

Condon only hit 1 HR in his rookie MiLB season in high A in about 100 PA. He hit 14 HR in 99 games/433PA last year between high A and AA, nothing really notable power wise there still. This year though he has 20 HR in AAA through 79 games/365 PA which is more notable for sure.

I'm pretty confident in saying if Condon or Jackson played somewhere like here or a more normal park and conditions they are unlikely to have near the home run counts they got to. Still would have hit plenty, but not 37 for Condon or especially 32 for Jackson.
