Just saw it on Twitter. He’s a 6’7 SF in the class of 2024. That’s about all I know.

Looks like a decent offer list? We need athleticism on the wing…seems like a solid get

Looks like LSU is in on a couple of other Texas players. There doesn’t look like much from LA, so McMahon is going to have to extend his range

I was worried when I checked the player ranking for Louisiana, but this kid wasn't ranked and looks like a diamond in the rough. I trust CMM's ability to evaluate talent.

Not that I would mind a few 5 stars.

He looks a little like Ward did out of high school, but honestly you can't tell much from his tape.

Not that highly rated. Kind of a meh take at this point.

We're top 10 ALL TIME in McDonald's/Parade all Americans. And before the mouth breathers say that was all Dale, Wade, Brady and Jones got their fair share of top talent. Hell, even Trent signed a McDonald's AA in Johnny O'Bryant.

LSU has NEVER had a problem getting great players to BR. More often than not, we have a coaching problem.

Sadly, yeah.

I don't mind developmental players. The problem is those guys need to be complements to the stars you also bring in.

And I don't see any stars.

You aren't going to beat SEC teams without stars. You just can't do it.

And I've yet to see evidence that Matt McMahon can recruit a star.

Developmental recruits would’ve been nice to get that last 2 years. Getting them in the ‘24 class basically ensures CMM isn’t going to be around by the time they figure it out.

That is pretty true but at least 50% of those 18 or 19 McD All Americans were either from Louisiana or had family ties to the coaching staff that recruited them. Dale did good with the Mississippian and expat guys, while Wade pulled in the most that were outside of that LA/MS area and not family.

We are so fricked for men’s basketball and it really sucks for the people that enjoy it and have been following it. We got a taste of what could be and now we’re back to being dogshit.

Here's the thing: if there isn't a significant turnaround this coming season, enough of one to make an objective case that the program is on sound footing, then men's hoops is going to be such a sore thumb among the programs in the athletic department that Woodward is going to have to make a change.

And if he does that, he's also going to have to make a hire that looks a lot more like Mulkey or Kelly or Johnson - somebody who's won at the highest level.

You'd say "yeah, but look at the money for McMahon's buyout." The answer to that is look at the SEC television money over the next few years. It's a massive windfall which is going to lead to a virtually unlimited athletic budget. They won't be able to spend it all.

So $10-15 million to pay off McMahon and another $10-15 million to pay a Danny Hurley or a Jim Larranaga (though I think he's probably too old and should have been hired here years ago) or somebody along those lines...all it takes is somebody willing to swing a stick that size and you can do it.

And we already know that Woodward isn't fazed by that kind of spending.

I don't think LSU basketball is going to suck forever. I think it's likely it'll suck with McMahon because so far it looks like he and his staff aren't competent recruiters. But if I'm right about that, it just means Woody will move him out and he won't hire a hoops coach who has any chance to fail as McMahon's successor.

When I clicked on the link and scrolled down to see more info on Devin Pryor, I wasn’t expecting to see more bs on buyouts and McMahon eventually being replaced, like you guys are obsessed with this bs everyday now. There’s enough threads on the rant discussing him and what he isn’t able to do. Go to the rant and express this bs, bc I look for info on recruiting and recruits and not McMahon and him being fired by next year smh.

Well, I'm so sorry to offend your delicate sensibilities, though I would point out that you bitching about people discussing LSU basketball recruiting in an LSU basketball recruiting thread is precisely the same thing you're bitching about.

Pryor is a skinny 6-7 small forward whose tape consists of a whole bunch of running down the court and dunking. There isn't much of an outside shot, there's no evidence of a post-up game, it doesn't look like he's an especially good ball handler and if he plays defense at all it isn't in evidence.

The offer list is OK, but the recruiting ranking doesn't inspire.

So unless he's a 6-7 Ja Morant or KJ Williams, and we'd all love it if he is, he doesn't change the trajectory of the program.

Which is insufficient to sustain the coach in his job at present.

There. Consider yourself informed.

That’s a great point. At least we’re only stuck with this train wreck for another year.
