Not gunna lie, after Walker, I refuse to get excited about high school QB recruits anymore. Think about the past decade, how many starting QBs for LSU were transfers? How many QBs who committed to LSU out of high school actually stuck it out through their junior year? How many transfer QBs started for Brian Kelly at Notre Dame? If these kids that grew up LSU fans won't stick anymore, I do not expect national recruits to stick around either.

Don't get me wrong, LSU will be fine and you still try to sign the best QB you can out of HS every year for depth purposes, but I believe the starting QB for LSU in '24 is currently not on the roster (Nuss will transfer in the spring). The days of kids like Myles Brennan in college football died with the transfer portal, for better or worse.

Kid definitely says all the right things and seems very high character. Hopefully his actions follow suit. I’m optimistic.

It’s way early, but his comments give me Tim Tebow vibes. Totally committed and all-in. A lot of people take their shots at guys like him, but you love them when they play for your school. They make great team leaders when the talent and development match up with the attitude.

I’m leaning to him staying.

Yes he could transfer but 2024 is probably gonna be a good year. The OL will be right where we want it, there is plenty of WR talent.

Idk where he is going to find all that and a guarantee to start in 2023

Young man is well spoken. More eloquent than some people I know 2-3x his age.

I’m impressed.

I agree. Esp (assuming no more transfer qbs) since there’s a decent sized gap behind him.

He can stay here and feel confident this is his team for 2 years. Grass will not be greener.

I hope you are right, but this exact same argument applied for Walker Howard as well. They are asking Nuss to sit around until his senior season, yes I know it’s technically redshirt junior, but it will be his 4th in college. I wouldn’t blame him for transferring, we wouldn’t expect any other position to sit for that long. They convinced Brennan to do it and 1 injury during “his window” ruined his career.

It wasn’t one injury though. He had season-ending injuries 2 years in a row. The second one before fall camp even started (or during fall camp, I don’t remember).

I don’t know that he’s really the case study for that argument. Back to back season-ending injuries are a major blow at any point in your college career, whether you’re a RS JR or a true SO.

I don’t really think this is completely accurate either. The major difference, though, is that guys at most other positions tend to rotate so they get more meaningful reps early even if they aren’t starting. That obviously doesn’t really happen at QB with the exception of mop-up duty.

Jared Mitchell said it on Mik'd up. If it wasn't for Hurley the Walker Howard melt would have been more reasonable. But with Hurley coming in a year from now that QB room is going to be just fine.
