While sometime offer lists can be a good judge, other times they may not be.
Exactly. Look at Micah Baskerville. According to 247 he has like 6 offers. He has been in with LSU from the beginning so other teams didn't bother because he has been locked in

I guess 99% of power 5 teams haven't seen the tape either. We are competing against Tulane, ULL, USA, Southern Miss, Marshall, ULM, Troy, Miss St, Oregon. So how is it no other major program has found this gem? Is this game tape you speak of that hard to get?

All things being equal and all information being correct, I would agree with you on the importance of offer lists, over stars and rankings.
However things are not equal and information is not always correct. These offer lists are self reported by the player in most cases. Why would a player committed for more than a year keep his offer list updated and current? And when a player commits that early, many schools discontinue the recruitment.
It looks like he is now being recruited by Mississippi State and Tennessee, so perhaps our coaching staff was correct in their assessment.

I just looked at his 247 profile and the offer list is not impressive. However that Ronnie Milsap hair he is sporting is quite impressive

Can we LSU fans please not make negative statements about a current commitment?
I like the kid. I wish the best for him. I hold no animosity towards MSU. If he keeps his commitment to LSU? Geaux Tigers.
If MSU is the best situation for him? He's a Mississippi kid, albeit at a position of need, and I'm not going to hold it against him - particularly if he's been honest with our staff and they know to have a (likely upgrade) replacement for him. I'll wish him the best of luck.
I don't think this is a situation where he is playing games.

I know. And isn't he our top 1 or 2 committed recruit in 247 ranking?

Evangel kids don’t reportmost of their offers

I usually judge how good a recruit can be based on his actual offer list because the major schools see the potential .No offense but there's not many on his list.
Kinda like Dak....

Let's hold off and see if the kid actually visits State. He may not.

quote:Remember when Womack from Hernando MS flipped to Alabama at the last minute? All the little butt hurt recruitnuts spew out the old and worn out "He wasn't any good anyway" and "Would never play at Alabama" BS.
State of Mississippi 4A mvp as a "center". Let that sink in.
Well, he started at Bama this season as a RS sophomore.
Same situation here. If LSU needs to hang to anybody, they need to hang on to this guy. OL is the weakest area of the team and simply can't afford to lose any OL's. Cregg needs to immediately pay Smith a visit and seal this one down..........

Shea Dixon’s twitter indicated that a commit didn’t show for a visit elsewhere, and it was clear he wasn’t talking about Traore. So it looks like good news for us.

I don't see how it's obvious he's talking about Smith from this. Is there more to your theory than this tweet?

New: Which #LSU targets are visiting other schools before the dead period?
A commit + a top target at Tennessee, an important commit no-shows at an SEC school, a big visitor for TCU, more. (VIP)

Shea did confirm in the article that Smith was a no show.
