Both Freshmen (Finley and Johnson) would be train wrecks if forced to play next year.

I'd love to see a QB upgrade this year that can push Brennan.

Everyone knows that having all these 5 Stars is a waste if you do not have a big time QB to lead the team...DJ may be that guy...Smart move for everyone.

Franchise LT (Dumervil) plus a franchise type QB (DJ or Bryce) would make this class unreal.

Parrish isn't going to do a thing here. Your backup qb next season very may well be a true freshmen. It's better to be able to pick from 2 in that scenario.

Why do you say this? Kid is really talented.

Which is why talk of grayshirts, etc., is stupid. If there's no room now, there will be no room next year. The scholarship bill comes due at some point.

Right, and if he gets a 5-7th Rd grade, then what?

If you're a RB and they tell you you're going to be drafted, you go.

The extra year is more important than an extra round or 3 when it comes to RBs. Really the only position on the field like that.

RBs are cheap labor in the NFL. If you can go get a spot while you are healthy, go take it.

Health is the most important thing for a RB. Look at Jeremy Hill, might not ever play again because he has spent most of his rookie contract years hurt. Nobody will want to pay him when they can get a guy like Clyde for cheap.

I agree it’s a unique position that an extra year is not really that beneficial. My theory is that the talent pool is so much more competitive. When you are a kid, the best player always plays running back. You will naturally have the highest percentage of kids that were the best on the team stay there rather than migrate to other positions. It has a lot to do with why other positions are more valuable, the talent pool is smaller.

Agree, I know Brennan was not a 5 start, but sitting and learning like he has done will pay off. I do think he has a golden arm. Leadership and toughness is what i hope he is learning from Burrow.

As usual, thanks for the insight Vol. You are the man.

Happy for Clyde. Was curious as to whether he would leave but I think his draft stock is through the roof at this point. Strike while the iron is hot. We have CDP and Emery and (hopefully Evans). That's likely 3 NFL backs ready to roll. I would absolutely love to have Burch in this class as well, but if we finish with those others you mentioned I will certainly be a happy camper.

I have been meaning to ask. I'm guessing your source gives you parameters for what you can/can't share. I know you have been asked to sit on information before which would make sense. I'm guessing what you share with us here is all already vetted since you wouldn't risk your source.

In any event, we all appreciate the insight you bring here. Keep it up and Geaux Tigers!

ETA: In addition to Burch, I will absolutely lose my shite if we are able to flip Bryce or DJ. That would be icing on the cake.

I think at this point it's all DJ.

I don't think we've recruited Bryce at all.

Did DJ even visit or was it just his family? Sounds like a pipe dream.

He was all around the practice field when LSU was in Arizona last year for bowl prep. That I remember.

This is just dumb. That's why you call it practice. Very few and I mean very few freshman come ready to contribute right out of the gate. They need time to develop whether its physically are mentally. Its called practice. If you screw up you learn from it.

Either or both would be kept under wraps. Sometimes one is used as a smoke screen to ensure anonymity.

I would like to know what promises were made to Johnson. It would be wise of Coach O to not go back on his word with the kid or his dad. There isnt many more exclusive clubs in the world than NFL quarterbacks and they all seem to be friends. If Brad Johnson feels lied to it will get to the Mannings.
