Citizen is proof of the new era of NIL.

Miami fired their coach. He had no relationship either staff. One week ago he was headed to AU. In one week, he developed such a strong bond with the Miami staff that he signed with them.
So lsu out because of coaching change, yet Miami is in. Makes total sense.
It’s NIL/ pay for play

Another reason to not trust crystal balls, etc until the papers are signed.

I mean be real about it. I'll respect you more if you said something like "they're giving me the best opportunity for me and my family" then I get it. But to lie and say relationships are what you value is bs..unless he was referring to the financial kind when he said it.

Believe he just wanted to get away

It only stings because it’s not LSU’s NIL money he’s taking.
I think the whole thing makes me sick. College football Recruiting will never be the same.

Don’t let your emotions get involved and give a shite about the players anymore cause I guarantee they don’t give a shite about you or the school you cheer for. Watch the games and use it as entertainment and it will be a much better experience.

Why did he sour on LSU is the question
Posted on 2/2/22 at 12:20 pm to dos crystal
did the NCAA really think NIL would be limited to CFB super star upperclassmen? Did they really not see this bleeding into recruiting? Did they not anticipate the problems NIL would cause for programs after implementing the transfer rule?
Cause it seems to me like someone in a coma could have seen this coming.

What some of you have failed to realize is that THIS has been going on for decades but only two a small number of guys. Now it's just on a larger scale in public view for all to see. Even LSU has benefited from this in years past. So what's the bigger issue here?

He’ll be in the portal Before the end of the year.

Here's something that college football needs to forget... "winning solves a lot of problems."
No, NIL solves the majority of your problems, LOL.

You might be right. Why wouldn't a kid take the biggest cash offer as a recruit, then simply transfer to the school he really wants to go to later on if the money is right?
He has nothing to lose.

Based on the exisitng NIL rules and landscape....you can't blame the players for taking more money.

I watched this guy's tape, and he looks slow.

I hate to ruin your picturesque nostalgic view of recruiting, but there was ALWAYS money being paid to top recruits. The NIL ruling just allows that practice to be out in the open now.
The reality is that many of these kids don't grow up dreaming of playing in Tiger Stadium, or Kyle Field, or the Swamp. The grow up dreaming of the riches success in the sport can potentially bring to them. So while YOU could not fathom playing anywhere but LSU, they don't see it that way. If you are an 18 year old kid from a non-wealthy background and someone offers you six figures to play football for their school that is very hard to turn down. Particularly, if you don't have a deep sense of loyalty to any one school.
Perhaps the one reality fans need to accept is more often than not you care far more about your school than the guys who actually attend and play for that school. You are seeing it in recruiting and the prevalence of transfers. There are guys who are starters leaving their school to go elsewhere.

It seems pretty clear that the dumpster fire that O created turned him off and he decided he wanted to go out of state. The fact that we took Cain should tell you the staff never felt great about getting him.
As for NIL, I’m not sure what some of you are thinking regarding Citizen. He wasn’t getting a big payout to come here because he wasn’t the big priority. Perkins and Matthews are. I’m sure Miami, UF and Auburn made him a bigger priority and he went with that. I don’t see any big mystery here.

OR ... he's looking at being the #1 back right away in Miami and at LSU there's a couple of other 4*s in front of you already ? NIL deals being equal, the kids want to play right away.
