Players can sign with new schools after the main transfer portal window closes on January 16, if their name was already in the portal. The window is for entering the portal, not for committing, and players can take their time to choose a school.

Yeah.
Last number I heard was 4500 in the portal.
For at least a 3rd of those guys, their college football days are over, but there are gonna be plenty of players to pick through.

Hell, that's almost 1/3 of all of the rosters in the FBS. I know some are from the FCS, D2, etc., but that's a lot of kids.
I wouldn't want the job of evaluating all of them. My eyes would explode out of my skull.

I mean, I'm guessing he could still go pro regardless of if he gets another year of eligibility. His stock may never get higher than what it is right now. He could be a little bigger and have a little more arm strength, but he is smart, fast, appears capable of making any throw on the field and he has great instincts.
