Can we rename this page "Pay for Play" or something else because recruiting is dead?

Recruiting used to be fun and exciting and the first Wednesday of February - referred to as National Signing Day - was the biggest "holiday" of the year for many college football fans, but sadly, I guess all good things must come to an end!
Since recruiting in the traditional form no longer exists, what's a better title that is more reflective of the reality of landing players today?
Maybe...
Pay for Play
Nothing but Benjamins
Cha-ching, Cha-ching
Jackpot

Feels kinda fake and dirty doesn’t it? To me it just doesn’t feel the same going and paying these mercs to come play for one year. Am I still going to watch and be as passionate a fan as ever? Hell yeah. But I feel dirty a bit. Lol

You can recruit with money it’s still called recruiting

I’m not sure you understand what ‘recruit’ means as a verb

Have to get to the point that the players are signing contracts 2 and 3 year contracts with obligations that they need to meet along with some backbone from the ncaa in making them maintain a real student athlete status and some restriction to transferring.

You could name it free agency or signings board, but then it becomes a college and pro board. We all know what this board is, stop arguing semantics.

Recruiting now seems like a waste of time. I used to follow it really closely going back to 2007-2008. Now it's just out in the open and dirty with little suspense or surprises.

So, I guess we can expect you to stop posting on this board?
I certainly hope it means you'll stop posting on this board.
Sadly, you're exactly the kind of person who will not stop posting on this board.

You can just not visit the board
The irrational fear some of you have with these athletes being compensated for entertaining you is just weird. You’re not even paying them

It’s always been pay for play. Now it out in the open and legal

It’s still called “recruiting” in the business world. It’s all just talent acquisition and money is a big part of “recruiting” everywhere…sports or business.
It’s one and the same.

Should call it LSU Human Resources Department

Is anything he said actually wrong though?

With all the dumb arse rules (or lack there-of) in place it seems that there is more and more to keep up with. Coach's being forced to leave during play-off runs, universities firing coaches for extramarital affairs, players flipping to rival teams, all play into the drama that has replaced the pageantry.

It still is recruiting. When you're a hot commodity it your field, are you not also recruited with perks and money?
I get so tired of all you hypocritical people. You know damn well when all this crazy arse TV money started being pushed and coaches started getting 8 figure a year deals, that something was going to have to change.
Beck and that Mensah kid got 8 mill total (4 each) in one year to play at their current schools. One threw for 3650 (68%) with 30 TDs, 5 ints, and won the ACC championship. The other threw for 3070 (74.7%) with 25 TD to 10 int, and helped them get to the playoffs. Mendoza won the heisman with 33 TD to 6 int going undefeated. He was paid 2.6 mill. Both Pavia and Sayin got 2.5 mill.
