Not a response to Geaux2LSU but just a related comment to the thread:

I sometimes wonder if Saban doesn't occasionally offer 2nd tier recruits from LA whose contributions will be minimal just to make inroads for others.

Now list the OL better than Cam. Truthfully, not bitter crap because he's going elsewhere. It was dumb to offer a 2nd string kicker instead of an All American WR that was best friends with your #2 target. It's over and done with now. Maybe LSU will squeak into the Chic Fil A bowl this year. Woohoo
So, your saying that if the staff would have offered Sims it would have had an positive effect on this year's team? Our current players would have improved knowing that they had CS coming in next year Mett would have felt better about getting sacked four times in a row in the fourth quarter of a blowout with the thought that CR would be here to protect Jennings next year? I too, am so over these two kids.

Sims as an All-American is just laughable.

And should we offer him despite the fact that he wasn't willing to even come to camp and be evaluated?

To think that is just retarded.

Edited because it'll just fall on deaf ears.

Les is infallible.

Sims didnt have the chest to compete for a scholarship offer with the other LA prospects for 3 days much less compete for a starting position for four years. Its a very understandable stance for the coaches to take. Did it bite us in the arse regarding Crob? Maybe, but its easy for him to say that after the fact. He was considered a far bama lean when sims didnt have an offer from them either.

The idea that he went to Bama because of Cam Sims is a cop out..

We dropped the ball in his recruitment

Just tired of fighting. Time to sit back and watch it burn to the ground. 4 million a year for fifth in the West and he's lauded.

I don't believe LSU was ever in the running for CR and his choice had little or nothing to do with his recruiting by them. Everything I've heard locally was that he was all Bama all the way & would have went regardless of CS. It happens. It also happens in LSU's favor on occasion. I say move on, keep pushing for the best class available & don't fret over the one you missed. Nobody ever succeeded in anything with this "woe is us" attitude. Some LSU fans are embarrassing, try a little confidence for a change. Might be good for you and sure as hell would be for the program.

1. It sucks balls that CROB is going to play for the diatoms.

2. People saying we should have offered Sims are fricking stupid and should stop posting dumb shite like that.

3. If people are stupid enough to think that CROB would have picked LSU over the diatoms if we had offered Sims are not using near enough brain cells.

You mean because people disagree with you?

Not hardly, but, he is our coach, he is what we have in place right now, and this is the team we love.
You play the hand you're dealt.

All the negativity from fans because they don't always get what they want hurts recruiting and this program.
If you can't support the coach for whatever reason, why hurt the program you love?
We have some great recruits in place right now to rebuild the team.
I, as a fan hope for nothing less.

The recruits believe in this program and believe they can win a championship.
I am behind them 100% and love the enthusiasm they bring to the future of LSU football.

All in for LSU

I think it's plain dumb to say you shouldn't offer a scholly to someone that didn't want to earn it. I know it didn't happen so this is just a hypothetical situation but what if LF, TB or one of the other big dogs didn't want to earn a scholly or come to camp? Marlon Humphrey didn't go to anyone's camp or clinic but I'll bet any amount of money he has an offer from every team he wants one from. Again, I know these prospects aren't the same but plenty of kids have been given rides and not made to compete or earn them.

I don't think its camp = offer / no camp = no offer.

If the staff had not previously rated him high enough to deserve an offer, then he chose not to come in for the additional evaluation to prove he now deserved one, then he wouldn't have an offer.
