This kid is raw as can be. He has no idea how good he could be once he gains 30 lbs and gets in a college weight program. His wingspan is incredible and he’s pretty nimble for a big man. If he’s able to camp this summer, I expect his stock will rise a great deal.
Take!

I'm chomping at the bit for this kid.

For all you posters that want Cregg fired... I'm on board if a) they don't offer East, b) they don't mold him into an NFL OT.

I kind of understand why not offered yet. You don't offer in state unless you are certain you will take them (you don't pull in-state offers unless absolutely necessary) and because of circumstances out of our control there's been very little opportunity for that extensive of an evaluation. But, for the love of pete... you don't turn Kate Beckinsale down because you haven't seen her naked yet. You throw her down and then rip her clothes off, with your teeth if necessary. You don't be last in line for a potential OT from St. Aug because you are only 95% sure.

Agree, I20goon. How many HS seniors come from LA that are 6'7" 280 lbs w/ 7' wingspan.

To me, this kid s/b a take on pure potential alone. Particularly in a year in which it looks like we will finally have a GREAT offensive line CLASS (as in 4-5 SEC caliber OL)!!!

Four in state OL in one class, that seems unbelievable.

So Georgia offers a kid in our back yard but we don’t? And a position of need. Offer already!

It's not common for sure.

This is where the damn covid rules are a problem. For OL (and DL) when you have this many in-state possibly coming in the same class they will be inevitably working with one another. Recruit them together; not as individuals. If you can create a esprit de corps in the recruiting phase not only will it pay dividends later, it will increase your recruiting effectiveness. OL always look at the guy next to him, and then the QB.

To me he looks like a beast tight end or defensive end. He can play all 3 positions at a high level.

Negative. You can find those guys much easier than OT’s. The fact that he and Will Campbell are in the same class is very rare. Plug one at RT and the other at LT.

They have already gone into NOLA and snatched up an SEC-caliber OL in Van Pran. We can't let them do it again - especially for a tackle.

Calm down, as per usual out of state offers are easier to hand out like candy because bridges are easier to burn and it wont matter as much. When offering in-state kids, it's always a bad look that can blow up in your face if you offer a kid early, they want to commit, but then you dont want to take that commitment. Bridges can start to be burned badly against you in that sense being the in-state school.

We've gotten a number of St. Aug players over the years so I'm sure they are doing their due diligence there. I think Cam East will get an offer, may just take a little time to make sure he's a definite take before doing so. Especially coming into a year where these kids didnt get to camp last year, all there is to go on is measureables and junior tape (if they have it) basically right now. Some guys they will want to get in maybe in the summer for some camps if possible.

Speaking of camps, you would think they would be starting up again soon with covid protocol in place. Has anyone heard anything?

I've seen him play in every game. The kid is a baller.

Dead period is in effect through April 15 so it wont be any time soon for camps run by schools

Can he box out and rebound? Might be good for a run on the SEC and the big dance afterwards.

Forgive my ignorance CHAMP (I’m a North LA guy), how is the level of competition in St. Aug’s district?

I do know Archbishop Romo is in that same district and I’ve always thought highly of their program.

The Catholic League district is arguably the most difficult in the state, regardless of classification. Rummel and John Curtis are always contending for state titles, and lately, Brother Martin and Holy Cross have fielded some solid teams. Jesuit is no slouch either (they won a state title a few years back). Shaw has really fallen off in the last decade since they moved back up to 5A.

St. Aug also beat Edna Karr (who then was the 4-time defending 4A state champ) in a non-district game this year.

Needless to say, St. Aug faces stiff competition on a regular basis.
