Those 100 and 200 times especially for his size are really good. The 400 is horrible and doesn’t add up.

Sometimes you luck into good players.

I don't know if it is luck into is quite right as the last guy in usually turns into a contributor. My guess is that it typically goes to a guy you think based on personality and ability will almost certainly be a good fit but doesn't have as high as ceiling as some of the other guys on your list. Little strikes me as much more of a project but he does have a really good frame.

Are those times good?

I don't think they're great.

I wish I could remember what Mingo was running when he was getting faster 200 times in high school than Mo Claiborne was.

Can he catch? Looks like he would be a good tight end.

We have our new OT to play the TE position.

Mingo times:

400m - 48.92
200m - 21.85

Elite times in HS, especially at his height/weight. He was the exact same size as Desmond as well.

ETA:
Claiborne PR'ed the 200m at 22.21

The 400 is more endurance. If you don’t train for the 400 you’re not gonna run a good 400 time. Seriously doubt someone his size is training for the 400. We have a bunch of dumbasses in here

I hope he disappears into the weight room for a couple of years and comes out playing like a monster

The 15 yard shuttle time is a much bigger predictor of success as a pass rusher than the 400M.

I imagine we don't have that time though.

That 400 seems weird. That is not a good time at all, especially after seeing his 11.1 in the 100.

For comparison, Mingo was the exact same size and ran a 48.9 in the 400.

Actually it makes sense... 100/200 are anaerobic events. 400 is not, you would expect him to fade.

There is NO WAY Mingo ran a 48.9..... IT IS NOT POSSIBLE.

Justin Jefferson was the last recruit LSU took in 2017. Hell, I think he signed in August or something like that.

His long legs are probably better for the 400 than the 100 tbh.

Mingo was the same size and dominated it.

And the 400 is still a sprint. It absolutely has endurance, but its a sprint. It could all come down to him being in too many events at meets and/or his track coach sucked.

Exactly, he’s obviously more of a sprinter. They prolly just asked him to do the 400 as well because of his length.

Bruh what. The 400 is endurance? Yes it’s more endurance than 100, and 200, but it’s a sprint. It’s one lap around a track. Back on my 7th grade track team our relay team in the 1600, everyone was running in the 58 second range. We are saying his 100 and 200 are crazy, it doesn’t make sense he runs the 200, in 23 seconds, but the 400 in 58. He should push to get the 400 in at 53.

Ummm yeah it is.

He was a freak of nature.

quote:

Also a standout track & field athlete, Mingo was a state qualifier as a sprinter. At the 2008 Region I-5A Meet, he took gold in the 400-meter dash, with a PR of 48.92, and ran the lead leg on the West Monroe 4 × 200m and 4 × 400m squads, helping them capture the state title in both events.[1] At the 2009 LHSAA Outdoor State T&F Championships, he took 5th in the 200-meter dash, recording a career-best time of 21.85 seconds, and finished 6th in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 49.54 seconds.[2]
