Perkins was offered more by Florida and A&M per reports and took less due to his ties to Louisiana and the impression LSU left on him. Where do these trolls come from?

We were in a bidding war for Perkins and paid way more than we wanted. I bet it cost LSU a few players last year whose money went to him.
It worked out for us.
Won’t for every player though

Perkins came to lsu bc of NIL $ lmao

This is not accurate. Yes, he got some NIL, but it is openly known he took a big cut to come to LSU compared to what he was offered by ATM.

Please tell me you have a link for this.

YES! take the money saved on Ricks and dedicate it to portal transfers for CB and DT. we did very well last year without a "shut down" corner. we also signed 3 CB's yesterday and one is highly rated. if we get Denver and the guys we signed last year we can put together a nice secondary if we get one or experienced guys out of the portal.

Bottom line is there is nothing any of us can do to convince a 17 or 18 year old kid to come to LSU. Like I said earlier, if he doesn’t want to be here then so be it. He would transfer in a year anyway.

Oh well F em. I hope he takes his L like that other groupie named Ricks. Rode the bench for half the damn year and then lost to us. L O L. Front running bandwagoners.

How many experienced portal players (that will actually contribute) do you think there are? We are striking out for any decent DT names in there as well.

Thank God we are supposed to get Denver Harris.

Bottom line is people need to stop thinking these players are all one school or another. They are not. If Ricks really was all LSU as some people have said, then he would have taken the NIl deal LSU offered and committed here. Ricks and many other players these days are all about the green. At some point as a school you have to decide just how much is too much. If its true that Bama is throwing 7 figures at him than so be it, let him go to bama. It is more important to Saban to keep players from going to other schools then it is that they play for Bama so they will throw whatever money they want to have him sit on the sidelines. Especially if that other school is LSU. Time to focus on players who want to be here and wear that Purple & Gold. Ricks from here on out is Tiger Bait!

Bama sees him as a year 3 starter and situational rotation player and he's still choosing to go to Bama.

If this is the way it plays out, he transfers out before year 3.

Absolutely. And the players and/or agents/handlers know how to play the game when shopping for NIL $. Bama offer too low? Start appearing to be an LSU lean, Bama comes strong and closes the deal. Same way coaches float rumors about leaving in order to get more $ from current school.

And to think, there are so many things that Alabama as a whole should be throwing 7 figures at, such as the warzone that is Birmingham and improving education, among many other things. National championships do not improve life, nor do recruiting national titles.

How do you know Bama views him only as a backup or year 2-3 rotational player?
Its clear Bama had the other kid higher on their board, but that does not mean they do not believe Ricks as a starter year 1 or 2.
This thread begins to sound a lot like Bama threads when they lose a kid: "he really isn't that good", "we backed away", "locker room, character issues..."
The kid was valued enough to be in a last minute bidding contest between LSU and Alabama. This is a loss, but as Jake says, nobody should be surprised.

Why would BAMA offer a big NIL deal to a player headed for the bench? Maybe it's because they don't want him starting for LSU as a freshmen.

False.

He would have gone to A&M if that was the case.
