There weren’t many of his “projects” that amounted to anything.
His big problem at the end was not brining in enough numbers.
As for “projects,” Ward and Flott both turned into NFL players. They sure didn’t look like they would be in year one.

Man, every school has 4 and 5 stars flip for a variety of reasons. This phenomenon is not exclusive to LSU.
Also, we've flipped players in the past to LSU. Recruiting, just like bitches, be crazy.

You're just a feeder school for big money NIL programs at that point. You can't win consistently playing freshmen and sophomores and having them jump to richer programs when they succeed. You're gonna have to pay to keep guys around in years 3-4. You're also gonna have to have really good scouting and hit on most of your evals.
If you're saying coach them up for 2-3 years and don't expect them to contribute till they're upperclassmen, yeah, that's what most schools do already. Those schools also are typically not contenders.

Obviously the Cajuns aren't going to compete in NIL, so Coach D has said that they won't pay players to come to UL. Instead, their approach is to use NIL to retain players.

It’s harder to keep guys around if you’re not one of the programs that can afford it either

Yea that’s kind of my point!

What OP described is what programs with less means have been doing since the beginning of time…programs like ksu Utah byu okie state tcu Iowa etc have always gotten the underdog types and have had great success by coaching. No secret

The issue going in this route is that when a recruit proves himself he will see the money available and likely get offered big NIL to transfer.

Well that goes back to either being horrible at evaluating talent or LSU is too broke to get the studs and they just take what they can get.

Have to recruit more 4 and 3 stars and coach them up….
kids that come in making a little money but bust their arse on the field to make more money after a year or two in the program and hopefully prepare for the nfl
This approach is not an overnight success, would take 2-3 years to build
Just reading this pisses me off. Like how do you not still get it? After every season, you're a recruit again now. So, if coach Joe Bloe at central Michigan turns you into a 1st rounder, you're still gonna transfer to Ohio State or Michigan your last year or so and cash in.
That's the issue right now. There is no strategy. Big money wins. There's no way around it without change.

Getting transfers from bigger schools.

Anybody who is sober can look at the sidelines and tell that BK has lost the team. Kids don't want to go to somewhere where there is this much dysfunction and it's no secret.

No, the issue with it is that it doesn't fricking work. Just look at all those times Wisconsin beat Ohio State and one of OU/Texas didn't win the big 12. Oh wait...
Also, what those schools really do is recruit the character concerns and hope they don't frick up too bad while they're there.
