That sounds like a lot of money for a guy who put up good, but not great numbers, and in a not so great conference.

What's it going to cost to build a competitive roster, if it takes over 2 million to get a decent player?

He turned down the who’s who in college hoops to come here. That wasn’t happening if we didn’t make a substantial offer.

All I can say is that if it costs that much to convince a player to come here, McMahon better not fail. If they spend a fortune this off season, just to have a decent roster, and we get the same results, I don't want to hear "give him one more year". You gotta pull the plug. You're just throwing money down the drain, at that point.

If the 8-10 million figure roster budget was accurate that's about right. We can't go another year without a PG. It's a killer to the offense.

I'd say we still need a couple more G/F scorers, a spot-up shooter, and another big for depth or foul trouble. Not sure how the roster numbers look, but scoring, passing, and shooting in that order. We're good enough on defense with what we have.

Wouldn't hurt to add a good perimeter defender, but let's not get greedy.

Where are you getting 8-10 from? I've heard 5 mill mentioned.

This year, McMahon’s NIL budget for roster retention and enhancement is approximately to $8 million, according to sources, because of newfound NIL strategies and financial deployment by LSU.

Isn't there a poster on here who says the increased NIL is a great big lie?

Virginia spent 7 mil last yr on their basketball roster.

Minnesota spent 6.

Just giving you some figures to show what teams cost.

Miss state & Ole Miss were reported to be around 5M. Got them in the tournament but a 8-10 & 10-8 SEC record, respectively

Yea, this isn’t necessarily a good thing.. we’ve got to pay an undersized guard 2nd round money? Are we just going to overpay for a bunch of role players then come up with some other excuse why it didn’t work?

He's 6'1 185...that's like prototypical PG size. I'm sorry there's not a 6'3 200 Deron Williams-clone in the portal willing to come here.

Also please link this figure.

It was in an SI article. I’m sure you can do your own research & come up with something

Moreover, the top 25-ranked Ole Miss Rebels and Mississippi State Bulldogs have NIL budgets reportedly over $5 million. The Missouri Tigers invested in NIL following a winless SEC record last year and flipped that to 8-4 with a shot at the NCAA Tournament.
