He keeps his hands on the outside of the shoulder pads basically every time he pass blocking. Half of his highlights could be called holds.

Even if this were true, it still has nothing to do with his potential as a prospect.

You can teach hand placement.

You can’t teach his natural bend/flexibility at his size or his speed at his size or his nastiness and effort.

Watching a 3 year starter struggling with undersized ends in high school and being forced to hold actually tells me quite a bit about a prospect.

Was he struggling?

This is one of those late developers who ends up playing 10 years in the League.

Every coach in FBS passed on Damien Smith and Jabril Cox, also.

Every coach at every level passed on me and a bunch of my buddies in high school.

And it turns out they were absolutely right.

There are a lot more Ash Williams that shouldnt play at LSU than there are Jabril Cox's that slip through the cracks.

No where near it. I don’t think he is even 6’2”, unless Escambia has Derick Henry at tailback.

Some kids don’t do all the camps, so it’s for a kid to fly under the radar. I’m just guessing he didn’t do many camps.

The 247 listing of him at 6’3..anyone know if that is inputted by 247 staff, or is it his HS coach... or the kid’s parents?

I am not Mr. Smith, just a coach at another HS that actually had the opportunity to coach against him and the young man from Niceville. I just know this kid personally.I coach at the school that produced Demarius McGhee. This kid isn't even one of my kids, just trying to help. He has unbelievable work ethic. I can promise you who ever gets this kid will be very happy.

Not sure how posting about it on this board helps.

I would think you would probably have contacts with the area recruiters of different schools where you could recommend this kid.

If the kid wants to be here and this guy is actually a football coach, I commend him for at least trying to get his film out there. No wrong in trying to help people especially if you see legit potential in them to be great in life, much less football

Kids with verified measurables that elite don't slip completely through the cracks like this kid seemingly has. Now, it's worth mentioning that more kids will probably fall through the cracks this year than in other years, but still.

Yes, it makes sense that more than a normal amount of kids will fall through the cracks due to the lack of camps and the COVID BS. The recruiting services just won't have as much of a chance this past year compared to normal years to evaluate these kids. There will be more slipage.

Exactly. If the kid earned it, by all means help him out. And this should be a great forum for just that.

Sure, but the point is that not being heavily recruited, particularly in this pandemic year, is not nearly a disqualifier.
