All right, here we go - Demouy Kennedy jumps into the portal

We recruited Kennedy pretty hard out of high school, didn't we?
He's been a special teams guy for them for the last 3 years, and he hurt an ankle in the Arkansas game and only played in 5 games this year.
Hasn't been any room for him on the field at linebacker at Bama. But he's got two years left, and he's 6-3, 220 pounds and fast.
This is one I could see happening. What say y'all?

He was recruited heavily by the previous staff so the interest may not be as mutual. LSU may reach out, as they’ve said they would on almost every LB portal entry but he didn’t produce much at Bama and their LB’s were above average at best

I know the last day to enter the portal was today or sometime this week, but when’s the last day to sign a guy? Can they commit now at least?

There’s probably a reason behind that. Once they’re in college, those HS stars don’t mean anything unless they produce. Kennedy doesn’t look like he’s produced. Why go after a 3 year ST guy?

Well classes started today so I think they would need to wait till spring if I’m not mistaken .
Any other transfers we get will have to sign in spring but can commit anytime, is that correct?
I know everyone said walker Howard was out on Florida because they already started class and then he announced ole miss which hadnt started class . So it makes sense

I think they have another 10 days or so for late registration.
We're going to take somebody soon. This guy seems more realistic than the others in the portal. He's one to watch. Especially since he somewhat fits that Micah Baskerville coverage-and-pursuit LB role we would otherwise have Perkins and Whit Weeks and nobody else to play.

I dunno.
It seems like we would be, but there isn't any evidence we're on him.
I know he doesn't graduate until May, so he can take his time. But last year we were waiting on Noah Cain and he committed in December, so I'd expect something if we were really on Jackson.
But what do I know?

Jayden Daniels committed last year after classes began and was able to participate in spring practice. Maybe they can enroll in online courses at different times and have it count toward eligibility for practice.

Arkansas recruited one of their backups at LBer and he led the league in sacks this year.
Would a shitty stat line at Arizona or West Virginia be better?
Maybe the kids a stud, maybe he's not.

If Kelly thinks he can help the team then bring him down. But I think Kelly likes the young pieces they are bringing in and I think Kelly and House are going to plug Perkins in the other inside linebacker position on early downs and free Perkins up on third down to spy/blitz.
Whit Weeks is a dark horse to me to get significant playing time at Inside Linebacker. I think Penn, Perkins, and Whit Weeks will end up being the 3 inside linebackers that rotate.

I’m because bama has one of the deepest rosters in the country and we are super thin at LB?

He was a grad transfer taking online classes. It can happen, but a small percentage of players qualify for that.
No undergrads can do that.

Has not cracked the three deep at Alabama for any of the four LB spots. More a jack than an inside LB. Limited to only special teams in his first three years and has been passed up by younger players on the depth chart. I think most of the excitement concerning his entry into the portal on this site comes from familiarity with his prior recruiting process and an inapplicable HS ranking.

This isn't even a depth signing. If you're going for that they have better in the portal unless we need help on STs which honestly, is not from personnel but rather coaching.
