Good to hear. We probably will have to overpay to get him. We rebuilt Dline last year, as far as high schoolers. Time to do that for Oline.

If CLK doesn’t think he’s a day one starter they aren’t over paying. We also have good starter depth on the OLine right now from the portal. They want guys willing to sit and develop.

We need this guy in the class.

Devils advocate: Why pay big money to a HS kid in a position he would probably not contribute to immediately? Also, OL is the hardest position to project and predict success.

He later said in the article that his RPM is still on the Aggies…click bait. I wouldn’t ever count out this staff though if they truly feel they need a recruit.

Not really, if this was before NIL, then maybe. Just because he's 5 star in our backyard that don't mean shite no more. Wasn't Lance Heard a 5 star in our backyard? How much did that cost us with no production? Would Lane and Eric love to sign Simien? Of course, but if his price tag up there, then we are not paying it, especially if he's not patient enough to sit and develop. Mat has played that snipet over and over where Lane is telling you the type of prospect they're after and I'm sorry but Simien don't fit the criteria. Now if Simien would sign at their value then that's different.

Yep, got to remember 5* #1 IOL Solomon Thomas is set to play there once I hope he heels from this long time injury since he’s been here. He’s still only rs freshman but there were plans for him to start when recruited and flipped from Florida St. Hope the kid gets back to a100

I don't like paying kids top dollar to sit. Between busts and transfers, schools are blowing tens of millions on HS recruits and getting nothing in return.
If a HS kid can contribute meaningfully in year one, pay him. Otherwise find guys in the portal that are ready and pay them based on what they've shown.

With the transfer portal this is not a big a deal as it use to be! If you miss on a 5 star some don't pan out but you can go get proven players in the portal who you know can play. You have to spend the money wisely. I trust Kiffens evaluation when it comes to this. Remember OM had zero 5 star O linemen and yet lead the SEC in rushing. I trust he knows what he is doing. He passed on a BR running back to go get one in South Carolina who fits his system. The Catholic kid is a good running back but not for his system.
