Oh how I remember the whole Patrick Surtain recruiting. That was shady as fack by Saban, though not illegal. But it is okay when they do it.

The Miami of OH coach flat out said Bama Tampered by reaching out to their Kicker before he was in the portal.
Everybody does it, Bama.is just upset it's now happening to them, as when ST Nick was there he wouldn't allow it and had an in with the SEC Office to squash it through the SEC Offices.

That’s not true.
Per bylaw 13.1.1.3, contact is prohibited between…
- Athletic staff members
- Any other representative of the institution’s athletic interests (defined as a booster, anyone who has otherwise donated to a program, anyone assisting in recruitment of a player, anyone involved in promoting the program’s interests, or anyone who has provided any benefits to enrolled athletes)
…and…
- A player at another Division 1 program
- Any individual associated with a player at another Division 1 program (defined as any family members, former coaches, trainers, handlers, or anyone who otherwise maintains contact with the player for the purpose of recruiting)
…unless that player has notified their current school of intent to transfer (entered the portal).
I’m sure coaches have plenty of insulation/deniability and know how to protect themselves in these situations, but it’s absolutely false to say that the only prohibited contact is between a coach and a player.

I didn’t see where it cover’s a player’s representation. Lance Heard, for example, had his agent toss his name out to get feelers on value and potential landing spots prior to entering the portal.
