Agree that Baker needs to do everything possible to land Murphy &/or Perkins, But it’s a little early to arrive at any kind of final judgment on him as a recruiter IMO.

For the record, Baker is solely responsible for DeMario Tolan becoming interested in LSU and he deserves all the credit for getting him in the boat.

Let’s see how it plays out, but I think Blake Baker will reel-in at least one more LB between Murphy, Perkins, &/or possibly flip CJ Washington out of Georgia.

Jereze, the cycle is far from over and from all reports it seems like he is hitting the recruiting trail hard and we are in it for some really good prospects. Also the kids on the team seem to be responding well to his coaching and enthusiasm also. I was critical of the hire early on because of how that Miami defense got steamrolled by NC but honestly thus far it looks like he is doing a great job.

What he said after his June visit to Bama:

quote:

"I worked out and I for sure impressed all the coaches and opened a lot of eyes," he said. "I also solidified why I’m the number one 'backer on the recruiting board and why I’m one of the top defensive players as well. So I guess I could say I murdered it."

"Bama has always been a top school for me," Murphy said.

Unity Reed... took me a second to realize that is the school formerly known as Stonewall Jackson (at least when I was in high school).

We got Sampah out of Prince William County, but I think that might have been more Aranda than anything else.

I’d be really surprised if he commits to Bama as they already have Woodyard locked in at the ILB position.

Playing in the national championship game every year and a coach who is not on the hot seat would be more effective.

This is fair enough, but "progress" doesn't matter for shite if it doesn't end in a signing. We made tons of "progress" with jordan burch and korey foreman, too.

So the big reason why Murphy has supposedly been dropped is because some don't think he has the speed. It'd make sense to put him at OLB or have Woodyard at Will and he at Mike.

Two crystal balls to Bama, and miraculously he's not good enough for LSU?

I'm pretty sure he means dropped in the rankings.

Bitching about making progress is one of the most pessimistic attitudes you can possibly have.

You’re mad that we almost landed monsters but they signed with their hometown schools?

So should we stop recruiting the best in the country?

I don’t even get your complaint honestly

Has nothing to do with Golding and his elite recruiting level. He's just a part of their "system". As the DC, Bama fans were ready to run this dude out of Tuscaloosa when they finished 32nd in the country in overall defense. Once Burton Burns retired in 2017, Pete Golding was a replacement due to his contacts in South Louisiana.

Alabama could hire this dude and they would still sign the top 5-star recruits every year. 17-18 yr old kids want to win multiple National Championships, brag how they were coached by NS, and play on Sundays. This is how Saban closes the deal and very few kids tell him no ... except Devin White who told him NO to his face. With the CFB playoffs expanding to a 12-team field, (16 teams in the foreseeable future) ALA will have an oppty to win the NC every year until Saban retires. ALA is already marketing this to recruits.
