We will absolutely be seeking a solid center in the transfer portal.
I fell like an experienced and productive PG would be MUCH more important than a Center. Presumably LSU is returning Reed (6'10"), Fountain (6'9"), Collins (6'9"). They've also signed Robert Miller (6'10"). There's probably not a traditional back-to-the-basket Center in that group. But a lot of good teams don't have that. LSU should have some size and length. What they don't have right now is a true PG. Mike Williams was a pleasant surprise this year. But he's not really a ball-dominant PG. And when he was healthy at the beginning of the season Stewart played the 2 guard spot. Who in the hell is going to facilitate the offense next year?
If LSU can get a Center and PG in the portal, great! But if they can only get one it has to be a PG.

I agree we need a facilitator. Ideally, we get both that and a C as you said.

It definitely seems like LSU has zoned in on a few transfer PGs, not sure I have seen us get far along with any Center's in the portal (All though there is still ample amount of time)
Also If Gordon or Walk-ons can't pay for one of these kids tuition while we take the scholarship reduction then wtf are we doing to help the basketball team here.

I don't see McMahon putting the offense in the hands of a true Freshman. Or at least wanting to do so. He talked all last offseason about needing to "get older". So it's hard to see him reversing course.
This season Williams started at PG out of necessity with Cook ineligible. Once Cook became eligible he almost immediately became the starting PG and focal point of the offense. And once he was injured/suspended, Hannibal was given the PG/facilitator role (along with Wright at times)
Stated or not, I think McMahon has to know this is "do something" year with actual expectations. Another very average and largely irrelevant performance will bring about some serious discussions of if this is ever going to work out. If I'm a coach feeling that heat I'm trying to find my version of a Mark Sears....a mid-major guy who can come in and be a difference maker.

Plus Corey Chest that is a good post player. I think guards are our biggest need, preferably with length. Cam is a good start. I think Vic Miller will play next year if he signs.

My post was mostly a joke, as I don’t foresee McMahon giving the keys to a true freshman. I agree with you. It should be stated though, that if we lose Cook, givens should be given the keys IMO.

Come on Alt. You and I both know Williams should have never been thrust into the starting PG role. From the start of the year I made it overwhelmingly clear that Hannibal should be the starting PG, which was met with ample disdain. Look who ended up being right

Regardless, the conclusion from Mike not working out at PG should NOT be that he failed because he was young. He was playing out of position for fricks sakes. To this day I don’t understand the thought process behind Mike running PG at the start of the year. McMahon loves experience and Hannibal had plenty and is ACTUALLY a PG.
Young guards can succeed in the SEC. Look at Hubbard. An undersized three star freshman torched the SEC this year and led State to a tournament berth. Givens can succeed. Mike would have played better as the 2 guard from the start of the year. Age certainly helps, but freshman in this era aren’t incapable.

The fact we went to the NIT with our best player only playing a few games, and having 0 professional basketball players is astounding
Not really, UGA was arse and made the NIT. Now, I will say this is a huge get and McMahon is doing very well in this recruiting cycle.

Yeah, he’s probably already the best shooter on our team
*Curtis Givens is also playing in the game. VJ is killing it so far

The most encouraging thing to me is recruiting seems to be improving.
