NICEVILLE - LSU or FSU?

quote:

For any high school baseball player that's what you call a win-win situation. For Rece Hinds, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound shortstop at Niceville, it was also "stressful in a lot of ways."

On Monday the stress melted away as the 16-year-old sophomore committed to LSU, a program many consider to be the most storied program in the country. Meanwhile the Tigers were thrilled to land the second best shortstop of the 2019 class and the nation's seventh-rated sophomore prospect.

There are a lot of guys that age that were locks to go pro that end up on a college roster.

You'll know more after his junior year.

Yep, far too early to be concerned about MLB possibilities.

Kid is a stud. Saw him play last night against Madison County, made some unbelievable plays at short. I asked him what grade he is in and couldn't believe he is only a Sophomore.

I know it's really early in his development, but did he look like a guy that could stick at short, or is he just the best athlete on the team so he plays there now?

ETA: Also, I don't think this was a spur of the moment decision. Here is a pick of him from when he was 13 at baseball showcase event ( LINK)

It is amazing how damn near all hitting approaches are this quote. Its either hitting the fastball early in the count or hitting the fastball late in the count but it all comes back to hitting the fastball.

Not knocking the kid at all just making an observation.

You always look heat and adjust to offspeed because otherwise it'll go right by you.
