you dont own the kid and his playing abilities. why do you care so much where he wants to go to school?
Who has ever made any equivalent argument to this ridiculousness you are saying? Strawman argument.
But we do either 1.pay taxes that fund the schools that provide the sports for free or 2. pay tuition to the schools that provide the sport.
And your argument to look at the NCAA? It's being held together by schools like Washington and Ole Miss threatening to sue students and duct tape.
None of this is sustainable. I and other have been predicting this for years.
These new rules of NIL and transferring in HS and the NCAA are just codifying what the cheaters have been doing for years. And one thing all of the cheaters had was handfuls of money.
But now it's legal and they don't have to find ways to hide the money. They can come out and just dump money directly. The schools with the backers will flourish and those without will fall away. To where? Who knows? I can't imagine trying to be a high school football coach in the next 10 years.
Was what we had before the best? No. but it was sustainable.

depends on your school board but if you are zoned for a c/d/f school that you would be the minority at...seems pretty easy.

Is not the reality in my experience.

im not even talking about moving across different school board districts so the taxes dont matter.

How we lost a stud freshman quarterback to Warren Easton
Was that a bona fide move?

I don’t know but his senior year was the one where Warren Easton had to miss the playoffs due to recruiting violations, and then they got in fights a few times that year. Now he’s at Millsaps

By the way, I’m all for this if it gets rid of the split.

It will definitely get rid of the split.

I don’t see how… it doesn’t solve the core issue

I've been told it will end the split. So we shall see.

What I think could end the split is the numbers game of select and nonselect… and that changed when the LHSAA re-did the divisions a few years ago early in the football season and made a bunch of schools select that weren’t before
I don’t think they’re ready to vote to end the split yet… they’re waiting for some inevitable consolidation to eliminate some smaller nonselect schools as part of the numbers game… if they bring up the issue again they better make damn sure it passes. When it was a 5A only vote a few years ago I had high hopes
LINK
Baseball 38-23 against. Needed 19 nonselect, got 12
Softball 37-22 against. Needed 24 nonselect, got 16
Football 35-22 against. Needed 20 nonselect, got 15
Boys and girls basketball had the closest vote (hmmm, why were the numbers different for different sports? )
Now all this was before the reorganization… a lot of those nonselects that voted for reuniting eventually became select. A few nonselects that voted to split eventually became select

is anybody happy with the public private split?

Was proposed in Texas last year but never cleared the House for vote. Coaches association was strictly opposed and lobbied pretty hard against it.

You saying public schools should be competing against private schools for state championships?
