It's a very good fried seafood place that has been around a long time.
That is the older of the two buildings, I've heard the newer one didn't take on water.

yeah I feel bad

I have sat in that building many dozens of times throughout my life since before I could walk or talk, and enjoyed (arguably) the best fried catfish in the history of the planet, making memories with my (now deceased) grandparents, and my own kids years later. Just hate to see it like that. I realize there are lots of worse things in the world, but its sort of personal for me and lots of other people from south La.

Have you seen the substation in Manchac? The old dude that stays there probably couldn't move fast enough to get that car there when the water started coming up.

That said I'm sure he wasn't there and the water probably carrired that car there.

They'll probably redo the floors in the old building I'm sure and fix the other damage if possible. It was worse during Katrina (I think) and they at least got it back to where they could have parties in there......but the new part they built is great although I agree not the same ambiance of the old place.

Sad to see it flood, but take heart. It has flooded more times than I can remember. The old building is made of cypress, and seems to hold up well.

Middendorfs defined fried catfish for me growing. No one in baton rouge offered anything comparable. The boiled crabs are always excellent as well. Great place to eat, and the old building was the only place to go.
