Hourly contract workers milking it for every last minute of overtime possible.

Or perhaps, it's people wanting to get back to their daily routines/lives. I'm still without power. Already thrown out at least 200$ worth of groceries.
I guess it's easy to bitch about us "complainers" when you have power

Got that right.
I know that being without power sucks, but what I can't understand is how shocked people act that it takes more than a day or two after a HURRICANE to get all the power restored. Unless you work for the power company, you have no idea what is broken to cause your power to be off nor do you know what it will take to fix it.

Hmm. Curious. I needed to go to the grocery store on Sunday, but I waited because there was a hurricane supposed to hit. Perhaps you should have prepared for the storm instead of thinking it would be not big deal?
I understand that sometimes things happen. My brother had a freezer full of Tuna and Snapper. I have a generator and deep freezer. He brought his stuff to me. I'm willing to bet someone you know has a generator and you could have brought your cold items to them to keep. A little planning goes a long way.

I got power in Hammond back last night. But once again, I had prepared for the storm. So I spent the last two days watching TV with fans and a window unit running because I accept that hurricane sometimes periodically happen in SELA and have chosen to prepare for it. Had I not had a generator, I have friends and family that do. I also had friends and co workers that had power offer to let me stay, take a shower, or whatever. If you try, I mean really try, you can make do with nothing more than a little inconvenience.

Unless your family and friends are all complete assholes, I'm gonna guess that noone has to try too hard around here to get a little help. SELA has some pretty decent people that are usually more than willing to help out in situations like this.
ETA: There are also some whiney bitches in SELA too, obviously

This is my point. I washed clothes for people after Katrina in BR because we had a generator. I have a lot of family and friends on the south shore, and I always open my home to them during these situations.
People complaining about not having the money for generators, I'm willing to bet someone they know, be it a family member of friend, has one and has offered to let them come stay.

I know that the tree across Claiborne hasn't been TOUCHED for three days
so is it too much to ask to SEE something happening?
No it's not

Unfortunately Entergy can't say the same.

I guess so, if "a little inconvenience" is not having power for a week of 90 degree, 90% humidity weather after the most pathetic tropical storm in recent history puts half of Baton Rouge out of power. But at least we can listen to Entergy publicly patting themselves on the back for what a great job they are doing.

I was prepared too, i had the generator on within minutes of losing power.
Only turn it off to change the oil, but still no bank open by me, no gas stations, long drives for food and groceries and having to deal with idiots who don't get that no lights means four way stops.

Entergy loses money every second you are out of power, but you are right, they are milking this for everything it is worth.

I didn't say that, so DO NOT DIRECT THAT TO ME!
seemingly most companies insure their losses, and after Katrina they charged customers more to offset their losses.
So, i don't know how much they will actually lose when its all said and done.
That said its easy to sit in BR right now, while we sit in the dark in the states largest parish.
Seriously why the frick are there so many trolls and such on this board who have nothing at all to do with the storm or recovery?

Does it piss y'all off that priority for entergy is getting power up for southern decadence?
Posted on 9/1/12 at 3:40 pm to shawnlsu
Like I've always said, I'm sure they are working hard, but I've seen ZERO entergy trucks anywhere I've driven, and I'm now getting word from friends and family in LaPlace that they are getting power now.....in LAPLACE....My place still doesn't have power and still no entergy sighting. Again, I'm sure they are working hard, but it sure is difficult to accept mentally while watching your neighbors across the street have power since wednesday night and hear people in what is now Lake LaPlace even getting power while you don't.

Here by capital heights. Lights were on last night. Just cut off a little while ago. Hopefully they just did that to work on another's power.

Neither do I, but I suspect no one's going to lose dividends on their stock.

Just checked the entergy outage map. My entire subdivision and the surrounding area now has power, except for a couple red lines that still have no power....guess who lives on one of those red streets......................
